Berube obviously had some success with the Blues, but the make up of that roster is vastly different than what the Leafs currently have. Not sure how his style will fit with that group.

Should have gone with Gallant or even Guy Boucher IMO.
Guy Boucher's last head coach job was 5 years ago when he lost the locker room in the most spectacular fashion. The entire Sens coaching staff was continually disrespected and ignored.

He then spent years in TV purgatory before finding a job running the Leafs power play. Thanks to his expertise, the Leafs scored **checks notes** 1 goal in 21 pp opportunities these last playoffs.

Is this really what the Leafs want at this point?

Misleading title thread,
Edit: went from speculation next week to hired. Isn’t Friday at 5 pm est, when you drop bad news lol.
They have done the Friday 5pm newsdump with Berube, with the Marner contract (actually that was like 7pm), with the Matthews contract...

It's the way they do things. Which is kinda crazy, a team owned by two big media companies and they absolutely want no media talking about this stuff when it's oven fresh.

Suddenly Berube will be the worst coach around here.
Well he’s not an X and O’s guy , but assistants can do that.

And also a long weekend,

I don’t see this working out, but we’ll see with the rest of the moves they make

Should have gone with Gallant or even Guy Boucher IMO. They need an immediate 180° in chemistry and execution for quick results in the next season or two more than they need a stable 'head coach' 5 years from now.

Babcock 2.0
Rangers fan here telling you that gallant wouldn’t have been a good hire either.
