Eh he probably deserved it, so camt.get too upset. Though given he already had a game misconduct I was expecting a fine.

The league really has no consistency on this stuff

Don't really care that he misses time, but the bias with these suspension is just blatant at this point.

Dumb play, to anybody who thinks this was a nothing play imagine that was Marner or AM…we would be crying bloody murder.

I like Clifford as I think he brings some much needed edge but plays like that don’t belong in the NHL.

Personally I think the Spurgon cross check was as bad if not worse but stars get treated differently.
You ha e a soft idea of what makes a star... Spurgeon definitely isn't it

I didn't see anything more than a 2 minute boarding penalty.

Also, Simmonds getting expelled for 10 and fined was ridiculous.

Do they? Matthews was suspended for 2 games for a crosscheck.

Last time he made a really bad play, taking that penalty against Nashville (IIRC) he played well after, so maybe this cleans his game up🤔

Not from what I read.

IMO Simmonds and Clifford absolutely need to play.

I know Dubas has always been high on Clifford and didn't want to lose him so I don't know if it was his pursuit alone or he and Keefe had a meeting of the minds. Regardless, Clifford is valuable member of this team for a playoff run.

Caps have Wilson, Ranger have Reaves, T.B have the Maroon and some others who play chippy. Ditto for the Flames, Wild on and on. Multiple trouble makers, all playoff teams.

Leaf fans can't be naive. Leafs are finally more willing to hit and deal with physical opponents,.guys like Muzzin, Lybushkin, Giordano, Simmonds and Clifford are a major upgrade from last years playoff team (Simmonds was here but not the same).

Similar plays in other games last night, you didn't see any other suspensions announced though did you? :)

I wasn't commenting on anything other than the Clifford hit and whether it deserved a suspension on its own. If you want to compare or analyze to other hits last night, be my guest.

Similar to the cross check Simmonds took to the face in last playoffs, no suspension of course.

I'm fine if this hit is the standard but it's not and we all know it. Not only does the standard shift, but it's been extremely one sided when it comes to the Leafs.

Bad hit but there have been times where similar hits haven't even been penalized. I thought 5 and a game was enough, at the most.

Oh well. f***ing Parros. Probably thinks it's Kadri.

Say what you will but the Leafs need his presence to go far this year. I personally really like him in the roster. He may be a little seasoned but that one shift he had I noticed right away he held everything he had in the tank for the playoffs and he’s gunna be a huge add when he’s back

Does this 1-gamer affect future punishment?

To me that's the worst part. A single YELLO CARD makes you next card a red.

League would have had a much easier time ignoring this infraction than the next. Anything else and he's done. Kind of takes his whole edge and purpose away. He's neutered immediately.

Yes. It will affect future punishment from the Department of Player Safety, just like his fine for his behavior in the 8-1 loss to Tampa two weeks ago likely affected this punishment.

Why is he neutered? He can still throw hits, forecheck hard, drive the net and even drop the gloves when needed.

He just can't throw late hits and the like. I was anticipating one game, a fine would have also have been fair due to the five min. and game misconduct.

I just want them to be consistent with ALL such punishment. The league hands out perennial suspensions to Leaf players when in similar circumstances opponents avoid even the initial penalty at times..

Quite odd really and I try to be objective.

Another Parros special...Clifford technically had already served a game by being kicked out of it early in the game. Parros doing everything he could to put the Leafs at a disadvantage even when Leafs aren't playing the Bruins...corrupt NHL...Parros probably heard Keefe's post game conference saying Clifford makes the 4th line better, then goes, "oh yeah?"

It was a bad hit - late, from behind, pretty violent. I like Clifford, but yeah, that was a nasty and dangerous hit, the major penalty and 1 game suspension are/were fair IMO.

If you’re lightly disagreeing with this - sure, all suspensions are subjective. But if you’re vehemently disagreeing with it, you’re being a homer - it’s clearly within the range of reasonable punishments for a hit like this.
