I think you see
Bunting Matthews Marner
Kerfoot Tavares Nylander
Engvall Kampf Mikheyev
Kase Blackwell Simmonds

This looks about right, except I expect Nylander to play on the 3rd line and spread out the offense.

It's just funny to me that this is a suspension but Spurgeon only gets a fine for literally trying to take a dudes ankle out lol

It was a brutal hit. Blindside, to Colton's back, head/face smashed into the glass.
1 game is about right considering he got a game suspension.
Brutal is hyperbole.

The player isn't injured.

It was a stupid hit, and I don't think the 1 game suspension is "that far off" from fair.

But brutal isn't a reasonable description

Dumb play, to anybody who thinks this was a nothing play imagine that was Marner or AM…we would be crying bloody murder.

I like Clifford as I think he brings some much needed edge but plays like that don’t belong in the NHL.

Personally I think the Spurgon cross check was as bad if not worse but stars get treated differently.

Similar plays in other games last night, you didn't see any other suspensions announced though did you? :)

Stars get treated different unless they are in a leafs jersey lmao

The hit was awful. He deserves a game. His hit was the only flaw in the game last night. Keep up the good work boys.

Agreed but who comes out considering Bunting is most likely back?

Without injury, I think Clifford and Spezza are a scratch moving forward
I love Simmer, obviously. But Keefe mentioned Clifford and Blackwell adding pace and defensive awareness to the 4th unit prior to the series and mentioned Clifford's name a couple times. Keefe also said in his latest interview they'll look to get Clifford right back in. So at full health it might be Spezza & Simmonds on the bench tbh.
Bunting-Matthews-Marner
Kerfoot-Tavares-Mikheyev
Engvall-Kampf-Nylander
Clifford-Blackwell-Kase

Sad not to see my boy Simmer in, or a class act in Spezza....but this could very well be our ideal lineup in Keefes mind.

Expected him to get a game. Seems reasonable, pretty dumb on his part.

I am starting a petition to remove #43 from the Leafs jerseys. There is something with that freakin' jersey number and suspensions in the playoffs

that said, I don't think the suspension was warranted. Quite frankly the hit was from the side and not from behind. Clifford shouldered him its not like he fully planted him from behind. The major itself was DUMB to begin with.

Whatever.... I guess Spezza draws in

Simmonds-Spezza-Blackwell is not that bad. Also, I think our 2nd PP unit automatically gets better due to Spezza.

Not sure if Bunting is still out though

Willy was owning tampa on the 3rd line; You keep Willy and Tavares away from each other. If Bunting is available I'd roll

Mikeheyev-Tavares-Kase
Engvall-Kerfoot-Nylander
Simmonds-Kampf-Blackwell/Spezza

I've like him more than Simmonds lately, but I can understand Simmonds ahead of him.

I think one of Simmonds/Clifford needs to stay in the lineup for every game this series.

Clifford’s hit was bad. He get’s a game. Move on, Clifford is probably the most expendable player on the team. And don’t discountJason Spezza, that fella is going hard the second he steps on the ice.

Dumb, bad hit.

1 game suspension is fair.

Stop comparing it to the Spurgeon incident, or hits in the past - the DoPS don't view comparables, so fans need to stop as well.

Exactly what I had expected. He'll be a presence in future games if he can play with an edge while not crossing that fine line.

1 game is what he deserved. No issue.

I assume this means we'll either see Bunting or Spezza in game 2. I'm pretty happy either way.

Fair suspension.

It was reckless and the puck was long gone, Clifford should know better, while while their doesn’t appear to be any lasting injury, their easily could have and it’s shit like this that needs to be gone.

Looks like Bunting was back with Matthews and Marner for practice. Meanwhile, Kase was dropped to the fourth line with Blackwell and Simmonds.

*Big fan of the win counter (one down, fifteen to go!).

Honestly no big deal with the depth they have.

Unless heavily one sided, if penalties & suspensions are dealt this easily within this series it will work out for the Leafs. Bars been set.
