He's a defensive d-man that played for the marlies. His one key problem was skating, but I remember reading he was working on that.

other than that he's a big guy that likes to stick up for his teamates. Will be useful if he's improved his skating.

Nice thanks.

The only thing I would have wished was Reilly getting his 5 game stint before going back but hey, Kadri made the team :yo:

I hope he gets a top 6 role though.. Not sure where he'd fit though.

I would never have guessed Phil is 6'0 202

He's 3rd line C with JVR and Komarov on his wings. Going with an offensive top-9 and 1 checking line.

is Scrivens starting? or Reimer?

Hope it's scrivens he's more prepared from the marlies.

Carlyle plays a top 9 bottom 3 system (3 scoring lines one checking line). Naz is centering JvR and Komarov.

I wish Gardiner was healthy so we could see the Gardiner / Kostka line from the A in action... thought they had great chemistry !

My bad, I didn't know that.

Well I have a feeling Gunnar will find his way back to Dion.

Not saying that wont be the case but I have a feeling once Holzer finds his way into the line up come trade deadline Gunnarson smart but soft positional style of game along with MacArthur will be traded.... Gunnarson is an RFA come season end and will be looking for a raise he's not worth. IMO Holzer will become a valuable shut down D men for the Leafs more in the mold they want than the soft but effective positional play of Gunnarson and with Reilly around the corner I see Gunnarson as trade bait...let somebody else pay 3-4 million a year for him.

I'm calling it right now if Gunnarson isn't part of a package trade for somebody of significance he will be traded to Detroit for a 2nd and a 4th he wont be a Leaf next year IMO.

Of course I could be wrong that's just my feeling on how the season will fold when it comes to Gunnarson.

I'm very glad to see Fraser made the opening day roster. I've been watching quite a few Marlies games this year, and even last year I had been preaching how well Fraser was playing. He's a very physical stay at home defenceman, and doesn't let many opposing players get past him. This year the Marlies are 4th in the AHL in goals against, without a doubt in my mind Fraser has been a crucial part of that.

I'm honestly not sure who Fraser is, how good is he?

Excited to see Holzer, knew he was ready

EDIT: ohh Mark Fraser, never mind I've heard of him.

Aye, Fraser is a tough mother. Just looking at him on HockeyFights.com and I don't think I've ever seen him lose, actually.

He's amazing for the Marlies. It won't transition in full to the NHL but a good guy to insert for leadership and physical presence against tougher teams.

LOL at the love Fraser is getting... If people hate Komisarek so much cause of the way he plays it wont be long "IF" Fraser gets to play when all of this love turns into a turncoat fest of hate. Especially if the goaltending doesn't step there game up.

Fraser is likely a #7 or #8 on this team. He's just there in case someone gets hurt.

interesting

remember the Phaneuf - Schenn tandem ?

phaneuf might play better in his own end on the left side
he is a left handed shot
adds more size to the left
good if it works
