Manny Malhotra retires

Someone you want to coach your centres on how to take a faceoff. It's an underrated stat, but when you win 60% of your faceoffs, you start with the puck 60% of the time. A great skill when you're playing a possession game like the Canucks did from 2009-12.

Ahh Manny. You were one of the good ones man. Best of luck going forward and a heck a good career. If there's someone I'm interested to see go into broadcasting it's him.

Edit: see a lot of people saying coaching. If he does that too I imagine he will be a very good one.

One of my 2-3 favorite Blue Jackets ever. (Feel free to abstain from "how man y choices are there" jokes...) A great guy and a fun player to watch.

Poor video quality but what a play.

Manny could have been a Canuck as early as 1999.

Rangers GM Neil Smith didn't want to let him go, for he was viewed as a cornerstone member of their future leadership group. He wasn't a particularly skilled player even in the OHL, but his leadership qualities vaulted him to seventh overall in the 1998 NHL Draft.

Definition of a heart and soul player, I can see him getting a coaching job whether that be as a special assignment coach (faceoffs and forwards defensive play) we'll see

Why is it so hard to admit the Canucks were absolutely decimated and nowhere near the level they were for the rest of the season?

Well, even if people admit that it doesn't change the outcome of the Stanley Cup finals. Lots of teams have been close to winning a championship, and had an injury to a key player or some kind of other misfortune. It also doesn't guarantee they would have won. Better chance? Yes. Guarantee? No, there are no guarantees in life.
