I don't think ETH was the long term plan.
Then he should’ve been let go in the summer. Instead of burning the first couple of months of the league. It’s either poor squad building or just incompetence either way it’s not a good look. United don’t deserve any benefit of the doubt until they can actually show something resembling a plan and start winning. Until then I remain unconvinced by their entire project

I agree that they shouldn't get credit until they prove it, but it's really weird to go on a "this is just more proof they're stupid" rant after they fire their trash manager and move quickly to hire someone who is generally thought of as a really solid up and coming manager.
