His 82-game pace over the last 3 seasons has basically been 45 points. He’s a career .5ppg guy and that includes his first couple of years in Winnipeg where he was figuring it out.

Between perceived system fit and production I could see a world in which this goes very very well.

Here's the lineup that I've penned. I gave Necas the Bratt 1 year bridge, Drury a 2x1.4, and Jarvis an 8x7.5. I think those are good contract estimates. I know the contracts won't work exactly like this, but I think the general estimates are pretty sound. Robinson, Lemieux, and Jost all have easily buriable cap hits if they need the space to start the year.

I really have to think that if they bring in Roslovic, one of KK or Drury is getting moved, maybe both. Seems very redundant otherwise.

One can only hope (my personal preference is we trade KK).

Otherwise, we need to question what this front office is doing IMO.

His current shooting % is unsustainable and he’s bound to go through some inconsistency based on his past seasons, but I think 45-50pts for him should be attainable this year, which is awesome for $2.8M.

Early returns seems to indicate that he’s a great fit for the Canes’ style of play, so he may have found a home. They’ll certainly have the space to re-sign him if he can keep up his current level of play.

he's missed at least 3 open nets too so to your point he will get opportunities with Aho-Svetch.

Hockey can be a funny game.....Aho has a ton of points but IMO hasn't played at the level he typically delivers. Team has another level to attain if Aho goes on a heater.

Yeah, he forechecks like crazy and is definitely a high motor guy, but that goal? That goal is eye opening because it brings a new wrinkle to our team that we've been looking for for a few years now. Finds the soft spot in the defense, gets the puck on the stick, immediately puts a shot on goal before the defense can react. That no hesitation shot (instead of always looking to make one more perfect pass) is something we've been missing, regardless of the fact he was able to hit the corner.

If he can keep playing just like that, with finding a soft spot in the defense and being prepared to shoot, I wouldn't be surprised if he has a breakout season here. We have so many good passers and play such a heavy possession game that a player with that ability should be able to feast here. I wasn't expecting him to bring that, but so far it looks like he is

Exactly this. We have really needed a shooter who can find tight spaces like this. Noesen wasn't the guy as he was more of a dirty net front presence. Roslo has a bit of Jussi Jokinen in finding seams, but he has a better shot. I could see Roslovic not working on other lines if he isn't getting fed the premium chances. But we've long had the problem of premium chances going to Jordan Martinook and missing the net by 2 feet. Aho, Necas, Burns, Ghost, Jarvis, Svechnikov, and even Kotkaniemi are really good at making quick, intelligent passes around the crease.

It's the same sort of skill set Artamonov is showing in the KHL.

He has already exceeded my expectations. Hopefully he keeps it up. In fact all of our offseason acquisitions have looked incredible to start the season. Walker is probably the worst of the bunch but he's still been better than any other 3rd pair D guys we've had in like the last 5 years (not counting last year where we legit had 2 2nd pairs).
