Why are we not sending down Forbort in favour of Friedman or Brisebois, we would have a lot more money to have during the TDL and there is no way Forbort plays a minute in the playoffs.

You can’t just send down veteran players. They have to go through waivers, and the Canucks don’t actually want to lose bodies on defense.

Plus I think you’d be surprised at how much they will, in fact, play Forbort in the playoffs (although at this stage I don’t really expect them to be there).

Time to dangle that unprotected 1st + Hoglander and get that #3 D-man this team so desperately needs!

We gotta get that guy who can carry a D line and push everyone down to minutes they can handle.

I know it sucks to give up picks and prospects mid season but jimmy & Alvin better take a long look in the mirror and figure this out.

Terrible idea! We cannot keep giving away picks or we end up like Pittsburgh....sure, they have a few good players but not enough and no hope for the forseeable future as they have given away all their draft picks. Don't want to go there..

Too bad so sad.

This is the way to salvage the season.

I know it sucks but were literally 1 or 2 solid D men from solidifying this team into something that can contend and we all know this is true.

We got a good team and everyone is working towards that but the ball is definitely in managements corner.

We’re not going to rebuild or think about 3 seasons down the road…it’s all about now and how this management group can get these guys going all at the same time.

You need to deal with this as this is the reality of our current Canucks.

We have to pay the price and we will pay the price but have confidence!

This Pro Scouting group is waaaaaaaay better than Jim Benning ever envisioned and has saved both Alvin & Jimmy multiple times.

What do you guys think about the following scenario:

-Canucks are on the outside looking in for a playoff spot come the deadline
-They flip Boeser for a 2025 1st round pick and a prospect
-In the offseason they offer Gavrikov 7.5x7M

We basically trade a top scorer for a top pairing defenceman who immediately becomes the best defensive player in our lineup. He's only 29 so he's right in the middle of his prime.

And we come out with a couple of future pieces that can help us down the road.

We're going to have to give up scoring for defence at some point when it comes to our cap spending and this is a way to do it while also coming out with some assets.

We tried that last year....how did that work out for us (and we are not as good a team as last year)?

Lindholm/Zadorov were a big part in 4 or 5 playoff wins so it worked out decently, if anything there's an argument that they should've been more aggressive about trading picks last year.

Also, even if it didn't work out, it doesn't mean that any trade involving picks is bad forever.

He only cost a *FUTURE* (not even upcoming draft year) 3rd & even more future 5th round pick. Boo freaking hoo.

You do those kinds of trades all day long (it's not like they didn't try to re-sign him).

Could be very open to it depending on who the prospect coming back was.

I didnt see it anywhere but im sure Allvin took responsibility for his bad summer and how he wasnt prepared to provide the team with a quality defense. If someone could direct me to the quotes that would be great thank you

If Demko was healthy to start the playoffs we would have had a very serious chance at the cup. Making it to g7 of the 2nd round with Sievelovs in net was a huge achievement.

It's more of a "make sure you identify the right target" than a "don't trade futures" situation for us right now. If we'd traded the Lindholm package last year for Guentzel instead, we'd probably have extended him and no one would be complaining about the trade.

Management identified last year as an opportunity to commit to going for it. I don't think that's the case this year and I don't think it should be. Reevaluate for next year to truly load up the roster.

Probably, yes. But that's looking like a potential lightning strike at this point given the steps back players like Soucy, Myers, Joshua, etc. have taken, plus the loss of Lindholm and Zadorov. Sometimes you catch lightning in a bottle. I think it's important to identify what is real progress in terms of internal development of younger players and prospects etc. and what is another "bubble-type" playoff situation. They obviously assumed a lot of things would carry over that did not. They also have to be careful with a bunch of guys approaching 30 and going over, because they could take that step back at anytime, really. It looks like just a misjudgment on the blue line largely, though.

Someone said that Cole would be scratched for the playoffs and I said that 100% Cole would start. Now Forbort isn’t Cole but a similar argument applies. Forbort is a veteran defensive LHD and if healthy and we make the playoffs he’s going to play. Now he might be scratched along the way, but I don’t see Brisebois, Friedman or even Brannstrom starting Game 1 ahead of Forbort. Forbort can also play the right side.

Not a fan of Forbort at this point in his career but if we’re in a playoff position and if he was added at the deadline for mid pick many here including myself would look at the acquisition positively (unless there was somebody better available for the same or lesser price).

Fate and team performance dictated it last year and they doubled down, not happening so far this year and they shouldn't.
