Addition by substraction is a more fitting statement

You can’t just send down veteran players. They have to go through waivers, and the Canucks don’t actually want to lose bodies on defense. Why are we not sending down Forbort in favour of Friedman or Brisebois, we would have a lot more money to have during the TDL and there is no way Forbort plays a minute in the playoffs.
Terrible idea! We cannot keep giving away picks or we end up like Pittsburgh....sure, they have a few good players but not enough and no hope for the forseeable future as they have given away all their draft picks. Don't want to go there..Time to dangle that unprotected 1st + Hoglander and get that #3 D-man this team so desperately needs!
We gotta get that guy who can carry a D line and push everyone down to minutes they can handle.
I know it sucks to give up picks and prospects mid season but jimmy & Alvin better take a long look in the mirror and figure this out.

We tried that last year....how did that work out for us (and we are not as good a team as last year)?Too bad so sad.
This is the way to salvage the season.
I know it sucks but were literally 1 or 2 solid D men from solidifying this team into something that can contend and we all know this is true.
We got a good team and everyone is working towards that but the ball is definitely in managements corner.
We’re not going to rebuild or think about 3 seasons down the road…it’s all about now and how this management group can get these guys going all at the same time.
You need to deal with this as this is the reality of our current Canucks.
We have to pay the price and we will pay the price but have confidence!
This Pro Scouting group is waaaaaaaay better than Jim Benning ever envisioned and has saved both Alvin & Jimmy multiple times.

Lindholm/Zadorov were a big part in 4 or 5 playoff wins so it worked out decently, if anything there's an argument that they should've been more aggressive about trading picks last year.We tried that last year....how did that work out for us (and we are not as good a team as last year)?
He only cost a *FUTURE* (not even upcoming draft year) 3rd & even more future 5th round pick. Boo freaking hoo.Lindholm/Zadorov were a big part in 4 or 5 playoff wins so it worked out decently, if anything there's an argument that they should've been more aggressive about trading picks last year.
Also, even if it didn't work out, it doesn't mean that any trade involving picks is bad forever.
What do you guys think about the following scenario:
-Canucks are on the outside looking in for a playoff spot come the deadline
-They flip Boeser for a 2025 1st round pick and a prospect
-In the offseason they offer Gavrikov 7.5x7M
We basically trade a top scorer for a top pairing defenceman who immediately becomes the best defensive player in our lineup. He's only 29 so he's right in the middle of his prime.
And we come out with a couple of future pieces that can help us down the road.
We're going to have to give up scoring for defence at some point when it comes to our cap spending and this is a way to do it while also coming out with some assets.
If Demko was healthy to start the playoffs we would have had a very serious chance at the cup. Making it to g7 of the 2nd round with Sievelovs in net was a huge achievement. We tried that last year....how did that work out for us (and we are not as good a team as last year)?

It's more of a "make sure you identify the right target" than a "don't trade futures" situation for us right now. If we'd traded the Lindholm package last year for Guentzel instead, we'd probably have extended him and no one would be complaining about the trade.

Management identified last year as an opportunity to commit to going for it. I don't think that's the case this year and I don't think it should be. Reevaluate for next year to truly load up the roster.
