Man, I hate Adidas/Fanatics..

Its been annoying that since Reebok took over it is a nightmare to actually get your hands on what they wear on-ice (The jersey's sold are made in Indonesia, the ones players wear on-ice are Canadian made). I own two of the new Adidas (Rielly Arenas and Tavares Away), but I know they aren't of the quality players actually wear.

I'd recommend IceJerseys.com to anyone. Cool hockey is good, but they have a reputation for not using mesh nameplates and using twill, unless they have changed this practice in recent years.

Man seeing someone speak about reebok in a positive way is weird

I grew up with the NIKE/CCM/KOHO era and to me that's when jerseys screamed quality.
Agree. My first jersey was a John Leclair authentic CCM Flyers jersey. It's fantastic. I bought a Bergeron Reebok jersey and the quality was not nearly as good. The material across the shoulders feels like a nylon tablecloth by comparison. If I actually had to play hockey in one, the LeClair would hold up a lot better, I'm sure.

So instead of just having authentic and replica Adidas jerseys that still look the same, the replica versions are an entirely different brand and don't even look the same?

Adidas doesn't have the license to sell retail replicas. That is why they are now selling "authentic" jerseys at retail. The authentic jerseys aren't true authentic jerseys by collector standards since they are different than those worn by the players, but I guess they meet certain standards that allow Adidas to market them as authentic jerseys.

To me, it's a win because I only ever buy jerseys either second hand or on clearance. The Adizero "authentic" jerseys while not as good as the Reebok Edge 2.0 authentic jerseys are much better than the previous Reebok Premier replica jerseys. So instead of having to settle for a Premier, I can get an Adizero at a similar price point. For example, I recently picked up a Karlsson jersey at fifty bucks.

Any thoughts about hand-sewn vs pre-sewn?

Pre-stitched letters and numbers are only heat-pressed to the jersey and not stitched down. After repeated washings the edges of the twill characters will be more likely to fray and start peeling off. If you’re going to pay someone for a quality customizing job, there’s no reason I could think of for not selecting the hand-sewn option, where each character is securely stitched down to the jersey (or in the case of nameplates, the letters are stitched down to the nameplate, and then the nameplate is stitched down to the jersey.)

It's really a shame how limited selections are.

I remember when you could go on 4-5 different sites to check for gear. NHL shop had stuff, sporting goods stores, some places in the mall, it was great. Now Fanatics has the monopoly. I buy stuff from them and they have a great return policy and I've never had issues. I just hate the limited choices. I felt like there was way more of a variety back in the day.

I also do the eBay thing. I hate the Bolts new gear and refuse to buy it, so if I'm going to buy a jersey I'll go on eBay try and find something cool. I have one Adidas jersey, last years all-star game blank, because it was half off for season ticket holders. It's okay, I preferred the fit of Reebok better, which is odd given they are the same company.

I long for the glory days of KOHO/CCM though.

For those who know what to look for the main difference between the Adidas jerseys sold to the public compared to the ones the players wear on the ice is this. On the version which fans can purchase there is this Adidas logo that looks like a circle on the bottom side of the jersey towards the left shoulder, so it's like their version of the Reebok Premier's with the jock size tag located in the same area. However that is not on any of the players game worn jerseys.

You are absolutely correct about the Adidas logo button, but that really is only a superficial difference between the authentics made in Canada and Indonesia. The weight of the Canadian jersey material is significantly higher, and the fabric panels are much more sturdy and better stitched together. There are no (reinforced) double elbows on the Indonesian jersey, and the Indonesian fight strap is a joke. All fabric parts of the jerseys are constructed differently in some way between the 2 models. Not long after the Adizero came out, I posted this in a jersey forum with some pictures to illustrate some of the differences between the Canadian and Indonesian Adizeros:

It arrived today v. 8.0

Even the pictures don’t effectively convey the difference in weight, feel and quality between the two.

Wow, I think I am the only person around here who likes the Adidas stuff.

Jersey looks way better than Reebok and Fanatics, while yes supply can be limited, offers crazy sales if you go on their site around every other day.

And as someone else here said, if you are into jerseys Ebay is the way to go.

Personally I like the NHL logo usesd on the neck line and the laces are better for teams who have them compared to them, when comparing both those things to what they looked like on the Reebok Premier replica jerseys.

The outrage over Fanatics / Adidas is overrated.

I've never noticed poor quality with any of their merchandise. The one complaint I had was them taking forever to ship the Vegas Strong T-shirt I ordered last year. But that is complicated as I didn't really pay attention to WHEN they would start shipping, I ordered it and it came like one month later

Hell, even when we won our back to back Cups I didn't buy one thing and spend one cent.

Fanatics/Adidas and their overpriced garbage can suck it IMO.

Lol wat. No championship merch? I already have 2 shirts and a hat and I brought them the next morning after the Caps won  6 AM at the store

No matter the item purchased it seems that shipping from Fanatics is always been a major problem with a lot of customers.

Yeah I understand where you're coming from, I see complaints about Fanatics all the time on other message boards but me personally I have never had an issue with any of their clothing. If you want to get any shirts from the team shop here they are pretty much all Fanatics so I don't have a choice. "Team Shop PRESENTED BY FANATICS" I've also ordered shirts and long tees from the Stadium Series on Fanatics and they arrived promptly, that Vegas one was the only delay.

A lot of people complain about quality but I've never had that issue. I wear my two Champions shirts I got and they haven't worn down one bit.

Unless you happen to live far away from your teams official team store, various sports retail stores or just live in another city all together, I can see why those people would purchase their teams merchandise from Fanatics.

I bought 3 Reebok jerseys from Cool Hockey when they were clearing them out prior to the Adidas/Fanatic ones, they did an incredible job and I basically got 3 for the price of one Adidas jersey.

Seems kind of dumb, but whatever. I can tell you after the local team won here there was a lot of money poured into buying t-shirts commemorating the occasion.

It's not dumb at all. The designs for the commemorative shirts sucked both years IMO plus the shirts were like $40 Canadian each.

I'm not paying $40 for a dishrag quality t-shirt.
