4gm 4g 4a 8pts Leading tourny in scoring. He is probably the best player at the WJC! Hopefully it will be Canada-Russia final, love to see him play against Canada this time round.

What;s the word on him??
Is he living up to his hype?? I would sure love to see him and Crosby tearing it up in the future.
He should be playing in the NHL, as much as I like Crosby, Malkin may have been Pittsburgh's number one center. It is kind of funny when you think one of the greatest center in the history of hockey (Mario) my have been the third center on Pittsburgh's depth charts. (I know Mario is playing the wing a bit)

Watchin Malkin last year at RSL, WJC and WC, this year at WJC, Rosno and RSL and comparing him from what I've seen from Ovechkin ... It's the first time I think that Malkin will be better than Ovechkin. I don't know how to describe this better because they are very different players ... just my thoughts and feelings, but Ovechkin wasn't that dominant in 19. He was good, very good but not that dominat. Level of play at RSL was another, of course.

I hate making comparisions like this, especially when I haven't seen him that much. But from some of the clips I've seen this year, he bears an uncanny resemblance to Lemieux on the ice. Am I way off here?

Malkin will own Canada!

I guess he will, because he's not even supposed to be playing at the tournament. He should be in the NHL. I can just imagine Crosby playing in Vancouver right now. Other countries would probably scream for justice. The same argument can be made about a guy who's supposed to be wearing the Penguin on his uni.

I don't think it's fair to compare a freak like Lemieux to a budding star who still hasn't earned NHL ice time. I mean, you're talking about the best talent that ever graced the ice.

I'm talking about a physical and stylistic resemblance.

The only way Malkin would have been Pittsburgh's number one center, is if Crosby was playing on his wing...

DrMoses did you ever saw Malkin playing ? If yes you wouldnt be so ignorant !

Crosby is the nr1 center for now no doubt about that. Malkin has all the tools to be even with Crosby or better. Just wait and see.

We're all ignorant except you, so answer my question. Does he resemble Lemieux in the way he plays?

He resembles Lemieux according to Dave King who was Canada U-20 coach in 1982-1984 (if I remember correctly) and right know is a head coach of Metallurg Mg. You can find his interviews translated at Pittsburgh board.

malkin is highly overrated on these boards.i've seen him play many times.no way would he get crosby's no1 centre spot.i guess malkin would be named pittsburgh's captian too??? malkin isn't in ovechkins league either.he's a budding superstar but not like crosby and ovechkin.these 2 will fight for art ross trophy's for many years to come.malkin will be a sundin type.IMO.

What I have seen Malking playing (mainly this years euro-tour games) comparations to Lemieux style arent that far away. They both have samekind of a body. Both are tall and look a bit skinny, both have long arms and legs. That is also one of the reason why their skating looks bit the same(long legs). Neither of them plays much physical game. Both have great vision on the ice, are exelent passers, have magical dekes, can score..

I don`t say Malking plays exactly Lemieux style, but of the current players he is the one who plays maybe the closest to Lemieux style.

Malkin is by far the best player in this tournament. I'm suprised he's even here, considering he has a far more important tournament coming up in Torino.

There is a very definite possibility he could move Crosby to wing in the future. However, it would largely have to do with Crosby being atrocious on faceoffs.

Malkin, Crosby and Ovechkin are far above any other forwards in their age groups.

I've seen Malkin play. Crosby is more explosive and possesses a better mental game.

Malkin may be better one day but as of now, Crosby is, and would be Pittsurgh's top guy regardless of where Malin plays.

This is the best thing about Malkin --- he really does have the potential to be better than Crosby.

I don't think anyone seriously would argue that Malkin is better now; but it's not a stretch to say they're already in the same ballpark.
Thing is...like a Spezza, or a Thornton, Malkin's a bigger player who takes a much longer to time to fully develop.
When all is said and done, it wouldn't suprise me if Malkin ended up being better than Ovechkin & Crosby.
