Really like the pick wanted knight or this guy but was positive we weren't going to tale a goalie.

Unlike other pick in second round pretty pleased.

This is the one im a bit confused on. 3 or 4 guys taken right after that probably could have helped us better.

And 6’8” is too big imo. Course there are exceptions

I thought they could have gotten Askorov G in next yr's draft, didn't think they needed to take one in this draft. Should be interesting to see who ends up being the better goalies.

Another goalie in the system is not a bad thing, at all. Look at it this way, we have a glut of picks between now and the 2021 draft, our cupboard is going to be overly stocked at every position. So why not hedge our bets early on the one position that takes the longest to develop to ensure that our goaltending peaks with the rest of the team.

Also, over the years it seems that the most efficient way to cement stability in the crease is to draft your own and no matter how many times people say it I don't buy into the notion that starter ready goalies are easy to come by through trade or FA. Drafting and drafting many is a viable strategy in my opinion.

EM: “Hey Dorion if you screw this up I’m going to be Mad”.
PD: “We got this boss, thanks for the call”

PD to staff: “The boss wants Mads”

Wasn't wanting to spend a high pick on a goalie with Hogberg, Gustafson, and Daccord in the system. I don't mind the pick in a vacuum, just not sure trading up to get a luxury pick was the way to go. Would rather have Afansayev or Rees and Honka, or alternatively if we still traded up, Lavoie.

I got to believe both Lavoie and Kaliyev (unrelated to this pick) were on our do not draft list.

Reminds me when they reached for Gange in the second a few years back

Trading up to pick a lower rated player.

Drafting way down instead of trading down when the player will still be there several picks later

D- draft grade.

You know that he would have still been there? Really? Are you an expert?

Every year I just laugh and laugh at all the silliness propagated by hockey fans about the draft. This whole thing about trying to grade picks like we know something NHL teams don't.

You trust draft rankings over actual NHL scouts. These scouting services are second-rate scouts. The NHL teams hire the best scouts in the world.

You don't think a team of non-NHL players put together by a media service could beat an NHL team? So why do you trust some scouting service' rankings over the only draft ranking that really matters, the draft board, assembled by the real best scouts in the world.

Those scouting service scouts dream of one day making it to the NHL. They are not the keepers of secret truths. How do I get this through people's heads?

Pierre literally said they werent going to pick a goalie. Then carolina picks rees with the pic lol

He said we werent gonna pick a goalie in round 1

I wanted Rees but I also wanted Sogaard. Both guys I have liked for a while. Sogaard has the potential to be a high-end prospect and goalies are a very hot commodity. I like the idea of having multiple options, goaltending is hard to find

1st round - picks a 2nd rounder
2nd round - picks a 3rd rounder
2nd round - moves up to pick a 3rd rounder

It's upsetting but I'm not necessarily mad becausee I realistically don't know these guys much if at all really. But if they don't pan out, it looks really really bad on Ottawa.

Goaltender is not an organizational need, so obvious they went BPA here. I like goalies that are a bit older, so I'm glad that he's 2000 born.

Dustin Wolf finally goes in the 7th round with a .936 SV% in the WHL

I know he's 5'11, but I would have much preferred that than trading up to take 6'8 Sogaard high 2nd.

Throwing late round picks at goalies is generally better than spending high picks on them, just because of what a crapshoot they are

I'm always a fan of picking a goalie every year, so happy to see we went that way.

If we get enough through the system, eventually one of them will work out.
