What is this? I prefer Draisaitl as a player and believe that he is superior or at least equivalent to MacKinnon, but MacKinnon has the better contract simply because you get comparable results for a better price and don't have to pay him as long.

They're basically the same age as well. Maybe if Draisaitl was 2-3 years younger, but he is only 2 months younger. Easily MacK.

Draisaitl signing and being a top player himself while dramatically increasing the odds that McDavid will resign and basically play his entire prime in Edmonton ... can't be too upset with that if you're an Oiler fan.

Cap hits for top players rise over time, that's just inevitable.

That's really what this is since that's how long both contracts will be, when they are both in effect.

I probably still take Mac, but it's a lot closer than the full 8yrs for both.
