Marner and Matthews don’t lack effort. Talent and skill on the other hand….

Don't care which one but one of matthews/marner needs to gtfo
I say they both have to. Anything other than the two of then putting this team on their backs and willing the team to a miracle comeback, should result in them being moved and/or let go. This version of the Leafs is now done.

I get it. The doom and gloom Leafs fan thing is in full effect right now. Have at it. Revel in the misery of it all. Do what you need to do. I think people will be feeling very different by the end of the weekend.

If they can win one, they can win two (about the most optimistic as I can be). Florida just look locked in right now, but yeah, the tides can turn as I've seen that happen enough to know that our fate isn't sealed by the result from one game. Lastly, sometimes it's better to lose a laugher than a close one.

On the bright side....

- the extremely lopsided score is more likely to wake them up than a 3-2 loss

- almost everyone timed their bad game to coincide with each other. We didn't waste the one goal Matthews MIGHT still have in him, or the one that Nylander/Tavares MIGHT still have. They couldn't have helped.

- uh, Matt Murray is an x-factor going forward? Or, Stolarz is coming back? I dunno, I'm trying...
I dunno, they were equally bad last game, but Woll kep the game close and they still did nothing with it.

They changed nothing from last game... first period they got dominated and instead of pickup up their game they just got sloppy and gave it away.

It was quite telling imo.

I expect the exact same thing on Friday. It is who they are.

I welcome anything to the contrary, of course.

No, that is what I want to hear. In fact, I want him to clearly state HE has to be better. These guys do not take any responsiblity publically... imo they should. Put it out into the universe and own it. Saying that shit behind closed doors is not for serious people. If you really mean it, and want to change, let it be known. Then fckn do it.
"Performance was shit" > "We need to play better", honestly. Yes, if Matthews said HE needed to play better, it would have been better (or the core needs to be better), but he didn't; he said the whole team. As a result, calling the performance shit is a much better quote.

Woll blew what could have been a 3-0 series if we had just normal competent goaltending.

That loss unleashed the Jekyll Hyde switch in both the Leafs and Panthers and that was the whole ball game.

He kept us in game 4, when we were BADLY outplayed. The team completely hung him out to dry tonight.... Seriously, we scored ONE goal in those two games.. but it's the goalies fault. LOL Matthews and Marner were dominated tonight for long stretches, poor play... we didn't show up in the first period at all. The PP can't score a goal... but hey, when we score one goal, in two games... and that goal is in the last minute of the game, clearly it's the goalies fault.

Seriously, if you look at this team, and say, this was such a good team, that should be going to the cup, but the goalie blew it... do you even know hockey, or watch the same games I did? The team sucked... period. No goalie would have given us a different result the last two games... no goalie in the world. Terrible team.

The Leafs have repeatedly blown chances to clear the zone, so many times this series, two on one goals, second chance goals, screened goals.... and then the Leafs score ONE goal, in two games, and it's the goalies fault we lost.

Seriously. LOL

What exactly is positive to build on?

Don't even bother.

And almost amusing level of eternal optimism in this team over the past few days has morphed into an expected stubbornness but now it's finally manifested into full-on delusion for that poor soul.

This is all I'm saying. But this is the way this place is. Every loss is a referendum on the team and every win is a reason to plan the parade. Sometimes the reality is that a series has ups and downs, and one loss does not guarantee another one.

This reads like a shot at certain "leaders" to anyone else?

A million percent YES.

My god this teams leaders are anything but.

The only thing Matthews and Marner needed to come out and say was, "this is on me, I need to be better, I will be better. Thanks." And storm away. Not, WE need to be better, not WE anything... own your shit you damn losers.

But they don't have any anger or hate in them, its pathetic.

They seem to one up their embarrassing performances in the playoffs, but even today's game is a whole new standard for them. Keefe and Babcock are like "see what we had to deal with" to Craig.
All though Berube shouldn't be absolved of blame either

That loss was authored by Joseph Woll. He just took an all-team effort and just barfed all over it. Broke their fragile psyches. I don’t want him back either.
And to think, Woll’s contract hasn’t even kicked in yet. Unnecessary gamble.

"We're going to make adjustments" - Swaps Nylander for Domi for a PP.

Gotta lose three to win in seven.
