Hasn't had the same impac on the stats sheet nor games as some of the other teens in the AHL. How has he looked otherwise through his 18 AHL games so far?

He doesn't play very much, so thats part of it, but I'm not sure what the expectations would've been. Most players picked outside of the first round, even in a year like this, cannot impact the AHL in their D+1. How many players outside the first round from the 2020 draft had a lot of success this year in the AHL? And the ones that did probably got incredibly favorable linemates/deployment/PP time that Cuylle didn't get. He wasn't bad, which isn't too bad of an accomplishment. Next year he'll go back to the CHL, and hopefully he can have a big season. He clearly wasn't ready to be an impact player in the AHL, but it was better than not playing.

Any offensive output this kid puts out will be a bonus . Rangers picked him for one reason . And that reason was on full display last week vs Caps for those paying attention :)

No, he's more than just a physical player he has offensive upside, not unlike the players the Rangers and their fans hate so much Tom Wilson

If he brings the dirtiness of Wilson I don't care how much offense he has I hope he doesn't play 1 game for the Rangers.

Cuylle is not a dirty player at all, but he is a throwback, tough power forward who loves to play physical hockey. He also has a very good shot. With the size, skating and toughness combination, I do see the Tom Wilson comparisons at the same age.

Much better. Last season I thought he didn’t look like he belonged in the AHL. I’m curious to see if he keeps this up. If he does, he’ll be at least a good bottom six player, and potentially a top six guy. He’s a talented player. He was being talked about as a first rounder at one point for a reason, so let’s see if he can build off his preseason that was much improved from his last two seasons.

I’m not usually one of those people that laments the defense on junior hockey goals, but the defense on the first one is astonishingly bad.

There's always gonna be a guy who plays dirty hockey. It's far better to give than receive.

When you have Wyatt Johnston as your centre and a you have a shot that Cuylle has, you take the shot.

just a joke about the stat line, wasn't intended to be critical and haven't seen a minute of him play. besides, nothing wrong with having a potential cy young winner in the pipeline.
