Overrated. Looks like a guy that is a product of Petan and Bjorkstrand but some team is going to fall in love with his size and power forward potential. Happens every year to a bigger forward with limited offensive skills at the NHL level.

That is an incredible cop out.

What about Crouse ?

If there is one player in this draft that is over rated it him. Not Bittner.

I, for one, think that he is UNDER rated.

I am curious to see how he will do without Petan of course but I see the potential.

Would like to take him at 24th with Nashville's pick. Could be a nice complimentary winger for Nylander or possibly Marner if we select him.

I would love to grab him and add him to Buffalo's collection of what seems to be the direction of bigger wingers.

I think he would fit nicely with the likes of:
Fasching
Bailey
Baptiste
Compher (though not exactly "big", but plays big)

There's also William Carrier, our only LW prospect who is close to those guys. Had a rough start to his pro career but turned it around later in the season. Jean Dupuy as well though he's a lesser level of prospect. Mix in with Kane, Foligno, and Deslauriers at the pro level and we've got some big bodies on the wing, as well as Larsson who is of average height but is like a bull on skates. Eichel and Grigo are some big boys down the middle.

I waffle a lot on where I place Bittner but the short of it is that I'd love to add him to the mix.

I love this pick and it sounds like Bittner loves the fact that he's in Columbus with some former Winterhawks.

I didn't like where Bittner was ranked by various sources. I think it's a huge red flag that he didn't manage to close the gap more on De Leo, despite playing with possibly the two best players in the WHL this past season.

However, with pick 38, it's a decent pick up. Let's see what he can do next season without Petan, Björkstrand and De Leo on the team. He'll have to put the team on his back for them not to crash and burn completely.

Sounds like Bittner has been opening some eyes at US camp as a great net front presence. I'm excited to watch him in Portland next year.

Bump, so how's he been?? I know I shouldn't stat watch but in surprised he isn't a ppg this year. Portland's sanctions are rough but is it a team thing.

How has he looked so far this year? I haven't seen him play at all this season or last but his numbers don't look very good.

I watched him come up in Portland and he never really impressed me. He was big and had some skill but never really developed. I think his hockey iq is lacking and while others improved their game, he just plateaued.

Man, there were more than a few Canes fans back at the draft time that were upset when the Canes picked Aho over Bittner, Harkins or Sprong. Goes to show how little most fans really know.

In fairness though, virtually nobody knew who Aho was. IIRC, Pronmann had him in his top 30, but nobody else did and McKenzie's list didn't even have him in the top 75.

I agree. I thought people were nuts when projecting him as a potential first rounder. He was a product of his line mates.

Late birthday CHLer who had 49 points in 63 games in his true DY, his 17 year old season. Then progressed, but not as much as you would hope, to 71 points in 66 games in his 18 year old season, prior to being drafted.

Then post draft, dealt with some injuries and didn't progress. But not someone who profiled well enough nor developed enough. Probably should have gone back to junior for his overage season considering he barely played in his 19 year old season
