Tolvanen..
Tolvanen has a lot to go for to be top15?

I wasn't really that impressed by Laine today.
Why does he have to force that pass on the powerplay? He almost never succeeds in it. And when it goes trough, the receiving player isn't in the place to shoot.

Laine is the most dangerous when the clock hits 59:xx, always.
Doubled Jagr's record and two to four games left, not too shabby!

I agree, that pass worked fine in the Finnish league, but now he's going to have to stop doing that unless it's sure to go through. He's just lacking experience at this level of play, nothing more to it.

Vaakanainen and Välimäki are first round dmen at the moment. Dont know about elite, but looks promising.
Your best dmen is Risto, who can definitely become a top 20 dmen. If they can add someone better than him than they will be scary good. It seems the top teams keep on getting better, hoping teams like frances, germany can start producing more talent so group stages of the international games become more interesting. Usually we all know that Canada, Russia, Finland, Sweden, America, Slovakia, are all going to make it through.

Yeah, to me he feels a bit nervous or something, its like when he is trying to deke its like he has so much on hes mind and the outcome is he makes a turnover. I wish he got back to hes game without thinking and just doing. DAMN imagine laine with barkovs hands and quickness with the puck. He might get there one day even. I remember I thought barkov looked so slow before he got to nhl, kinda like laine does, its like everything he does looks slow. But now barkov is just a beast with the puck. hopefule Laine can develop in the same path in that regard. Would become a hockey legend for sure

Ferraro said that Babcock is now in St. Petersberg and met both Matthews and Laine. That makes me wonder that there's still a chance that Matthews drops to #2.

I cant see AM dropping to #2. Would be silly from Toronto not to meet both of them when especially its so easy in there.

I just don't know why Babcock would even bother meeting Laine if he wasn't being considered for #1 by the Leafs. I mean we don't hear about Babcock going to meet Pierre-Luc Dubois for instance

I am not at all surprised if Laine is 1OA. He has proved to be somewhat special by breaking records and simply being a freaking cannon for this whole season - But yeah, most likely he is 2OA. Statistically you should build your team around a capable center.

That's actually true. Didn't think about this.

Weird stay of the day. This is the second goal of the tournament where Laine has scored with 3 seconds left in the game

It would be stupid from the Leafs to not check up on Laine. Just as a precaution, if nothing else.

I think it is normal and expected you would talk to the first 4 or 5 top ranked guys if you have the first pick?

Maybe the Leafs think they can turn Laine into a center? He has the better frame for it and his momentum-heavy skating is more in line with big NHL centers like Getzlaf or Thornton.

Maybe. Probably doesn't mean anything but it perked up my ears when Ferraro mentioned that

It's to persuade Laine to join the Leafs when he eventually becomes an FA. ;)

Off game for Laine I thought. A bit of a sneaky shot but the goalie should've had that. He didn't get many touches with the puck, might be due to Barkov continuing to assert himself in the tournament.

He is just doing his job exploring that 1% chance that they might want to take Laine for one reason or another such as a freak injury to Matthews that threatens his development or career. Leafs are going to pick Matthews.

Stuff like this is so basic that they assume you know it already when attending Human Relations 101. Who knows what will happen, Matthews could suddenly decide he likes water polo more than ice hockey. He could be abducted by aliums. For the Leafs there's everything to lose and nothing to gain by ignoring other top prospects. And what, does Babcock hate meeting hockey prospects or something?

"Those filthy little kids, always intruding on my personal time!"

Eeli Tolvanen, though I think i may be wrong right now, as he isn't a top 15 pick at the moment. But i think he can be a riser, and liked his game at the u-18 championships.

I think Dreger or Button praised him a LOT at the u18's. It sounded like hes in there for sure.
