Almost 3 ppg since snub. Crazy! Not being invited to wjc wast Best thing that ever didn't happened to him. Will he play in wjc next year if asked?

He's a late birthday so he's not eligible next year.

If Connor keeps this up, I wouldn't be shocked to see him with Team USA this spring.

But he's not good enough for the WJC.:snide:

Has any player ever been cut from his world junior team and then played on the world championship team in the same year? Can't imagine it's happened too much...

If it has, it would have had to be either a ridiculous snub or someone who just caught on fire close to the WJC and kept it up until the WC.

But I don't know if it has happened before.

Right now I would say, Connor and Barzal are the steals of the first rd picks from last summer. People who followed my comments from the draft last year will know I said it would not surprise me if someone picked mid first rd could be as good as players picked as high as #3 this draft(taking Mc-Eichel out of the equation). These 2 guys are a great advertisement of the depth in this draft. What a year, what a talent.

Agree. Would also say that White, Konecny and Boeser could end up being great picks at their draft positions. All three look fantastic.

Lots of Philly fans wanted him if we were going to draft a forward at our spot instead of Provorov. Glad he is in the West. Great pick.

Is it just me or does the 1st round from last year seem really, really good for the US? Not necessarily the numbers but every player is looking solid.

I have always been high on Connor. At the risk of being accused of tooting my own horn. Here is just how much I liked him with a post before last year's draft I made on him.

Good call. Mark Edwards (Hockeyprospect.com) ranked Connor at 5 overall. Interestingly, Edwards also had Ehlers ranked @ #5 in 2014. Very happy that the Jets got them at #9 and #17. It infused a lot of much-needed skill and speed to the Jets prospect pool.

Yup. And to think Boston passed on both of these guys...wtf.

Jets have a plethora of quality prospects I really like. Obviously Connor and Ehlers are 2 I like since they head the class. I had them as #1 in the NHL for their depth and quality in their prospect pool. I root for players and prospects more than teams right now. But if I were a Jets fan right now, I would not be unhappy one bit. Tremendous job they have done there.

Hindsight is 20 - 20. But of the players available on my list if we were picking BPA. Had I been the GM for Boston.

I would have picked Barzal, Konecny, and Connor last draft. I had Zboril at #17, so I could have lived with him. But that is another topic. Yep to pass on Connor looks like it was a mistake.

Thoughts about Roslovic? I really liked him at the Jets development camp. He's quite easily leading Miami in scoring as a freshman, with 10g and 9a on a low-scoring team. Seems to have good NHL potential.

Like him too. Not as much value as Connor or Spacek IMO. But you guys are not doing much wrong in the drafting dept!

I had to repost this. Who was the announcer that compared Connor to Raymond or Grabner? I almost spilt my coffee when I heard this. I would feel pretty insulted if I were Mark Hillier.

When are the Hobey Baker finalists selected, and when is the winner selected?

Top 10 announced mid March. Top three anounced start of April. By that time it's usually pretty obvious who's going to win. This year I'm thinking it's Vesey or Connor.

I'm thinking he meant in terms of raw speed only but the words kind of fumbled out of his mouth.

Thanks. Would be a nice honor for Connor to be a finalist as a freshman.
