Yup.

Connor with 2g 2a now tonight, up to 20g and 20a in his 22nd game (1.82 pts/game).

Takes the overall scoring lead in the NCAA Div 1.

The kid is pure gold. I'm thinking he will be signed to a ELC at season's end and pushing for a NHL job next fall.

Honestly, I'm so annoyed my team didn't pick Connor when we had the chance. He was such a no-brainer. I was probably the highest of anyone on the forum on Connor. I yelled about how based on his statistical comparables, he's basically a guaranteed top-6 scorer with like a 75% chance of being a 1st line scorer. Honestly I'm so damn annoyed.

Had him as the 6th best prospect in the draft.

I changed my mind. I have him 5th now. This kid has every single tool you ask for from a top 6 player, he has no real weakness and a good overall game. I will never understand how guys like Meier, Zacha, Crouse, Senyshyn, Guryanov or Debrusk were picked ahead of him. Seriously, what did the guy have to do to get noticed ?

I feel like prospects playing in the US get underrated very often especially when they aren't playing for the USNDP.

I think he could be a top 6 player next year already at the NHL level. He isn't less talented than Larkin. Not sure his defensive game and physicality is as ready as Larkin, but still. Can't wait to see him take the next step. Absolutely love him as a player.

Right there with you. Had this guy in my top 10 but he was always shifting between 7 and 10 for me. Wanted the sharks to get him bad but I'm not too upset about Meier. You could just tell this guy was gonna be a stud watching him I don't really get how he dropped so much unless he performed poorly in the interviews.

I guess I can also understand Guryanov and zacha getting picked over him for size reasons but at the same time I just couldn't wrap my mind around how much he dropped.

Not according to a report from Hockeyprospect.com. A quote from an NHL scout in their scouting report:

He was really good in his interview. He came across multiple times as a team first player.

Connor said that during his draft year he and the Jets had "really good talks throughout the whole season" with the Jets, so they likely had a good read on his approach and character.

Makes no sense how he dropped so far then. I mean the draft had a lot of talent and all but from what I saw (and I wouldn't say I watch close to as much as any scout), it was pretty clear he was ahead of some of the other guys. I guess Boston is partially responsible but too early to call their picks bad

I think that it was a combination of things. A few teams went for bigger forwards (Crouse, Zacha, Meier), Dallas swung for the fences (Guryanov), and then the Bruins took over.

Jets' GM Cheveldayoff said that he started to feel "giddy" as the picks unfolded and he realized that the Jets might get a shot at a player they really coveted (probably Barzal or Connor). I know that at our draft party when the Bruins had finished their selections we were all stoked that the Jets were going to get either Barzal or Connor (Chevy has a reputation for not blowing an obvious pick). It was the same reaction as the year before after Virtanen and Fleury had been selected at #6 and #7 and we realized that the Jets would get either Nylander or Ehlers. Getting Ehlers @ #9 and Connor @ #17 is all sorts of wonderful. :D Those players are exactly what the Jets needed in the organization - very high-skill players with blazing speed.

By the way, it looks like they've added an assist to Connor last night, for another 5 point night. Now up to 20g 21a in 22 games (1.86 points / game).

A lot of the Jets picks came from the USHL and USNTDP this past season. When you're spending as much as the Jets are on scouts, you'd better have them everywhere. Could be that there were few scouts actually looking at the USHL, instead looking at the CHL, USNTDP, and Euro leagues. I mean, Hellebuyck came from the NAHL, and wasn't even the player that Rick St. Croix went there to scout.

If you're not going to sign UFAs, you'd better damn have scouts everywhere.

Oh, so it WAS a five point night? Seeing 5 points some place 4 the other.

Edit : im sticking with 4, thats what CHN has.

What a bust.

UMichigan, CHN and NCAA box scores have him with 5 points not that it matters that much. He is on a tear.

not so sure there buddy...I would check the thread starter on that one

kid is playing insane right now- he is on a Jack Eichel level.

Isles and Jets fan united here. Barzal and Connor fell into our laps.

So excited to see them both in the NHL sooner rather than later.

To put his season in perspective, Gaudreau didnt have his 2 ppg season until his 3rd NCAA season. He was ppg in his 1st (1.45 2nd, 2 ppg 3rd)

Finishing at near 2 ppg as a freshman would be insane and almost unheard of

Kyle Connor pre USA snub: 11 GP 12 P
Kyle Connor post USA snub: 11 GP 29 P.

lol USA Hockey. :handclap::popcorn:

At the draft parties people were all like “yeah that was a pretty obvious pick†when they selected Scheifele, Trouba, and Morrisey...

Okay, maybe not obvious to most fans, but also not huge reaches. They were all solid picks in retrospect. At my draft parties there was literally no anxiety that Chevy would pass on Ehlers or Connor. I bet there will be a lot more suspense at future Bruins draft parties with Sweeney after 2015.
