LW Kyle Connor (2015, 17th, WPG) II

  • Xenforo Cloud is doing server maintenance Thurdsay 13th at 9 AM GMT. Downtime is to be expected during the process. Server changes were implemented recently to cope with the traffic surge last week. This seems to be affecting the user login, so please anyone experiencing this, log out and clear the browser cache. Connor is a prospect that can finish. I think we have already seen this in preseason. In a league that struggles for goals, this is of immense value to NHL Teams. He has a knack of being in position to score goals. Also being the terrific skater he is, he can apply great back pressure as well as pressure on the rush in his game. This kid is going to be a good one. Has too much game to not succeed.

It almost seems like people forget how good Kyle Connor is and it makes me mad. He had 71 points in 38 games as a rookie in the NCAA. That's no fluke. In my opinion, he is a lock to make this team and he is a world class prospect. Make no mistake about it, Connor has the potential to beat out Liane and Ehlers for a role in the top 6.

I don't think he needs to beat them out :)
Why can't he just join them with Wheeler ;)

Super fast, immensely skilled, and a bit too gun-shy. I honestly think he might be more talented than Ehlers, which is saying a lot, but I don't think he has the fiery personality Ehlers has on the ice, and I don't think that's his type of game.

His 2 goals were essentially just Connor finishing off a nice play, but like many very good goal scorers in the NHL, he has a tendency to be in a position to get those goals, and his one timer is a thing of beauty. He reminds me a bit of Stamkos in that regard, in that even when he's not that noticeable in a game, he's still very dangerous because he'll make you pay if you forget about him.

He's almost overlooked because of Laine, but it's easy to see that he put up those crazy numbers in the NCAA as a freshman for a reason. People have been suggesting that he start in the AHL, but I don't see it happening. IMO, he should be a feature in our top 9, and on our PP.

Agree fully with this post and REALLY agree with the bolded.

I also find that he is still playing a tiny bit gun shy. You can definitely see his skill and talent but you can tell he is still figuring everything out and still figuring out exactly what he is able to actually do out there. Id honestly keep playing him in majority of these games just so he keeps getting more and more comfortable

Connor with another goal. That is 3 goals in 3 games I think.

Yup. 3 in 3, and he has looked very impressive. His latest goal was a snipe to roof from a tight angle. He's a pure goal scorer. 6 shots on goal and counting tonight.

No doubt that he's made the Jets and will play top 9 with some PP time.

His speed is top-end. Wow...

Connor's been really impressive.

What was his NHLe using the NCAA season, 26+27=53?

I actually wouldn't be all that surprised if he got close.

So Connors preseason stat line so far is 3 goals in 3 games, a goal in each, two of which were Game Winners. All scored on 9 shots, shooting 33.33%. Averaging 16:47 minutes of ice time per game. Better than many of us expected so far.

Not sure how much I talked about it in this thread but Connor was more impressive than Larkin as a freshman, so I expected him to be up most of this year.

I think that the two way center will always get more hype, but yah, Connor had better numbers coming out of Michigan

Jets fans I think you guys should forget about the Laine for Calder idea because I honestly think this kid is going to be your best shot at the Calder. He looks very good.

On schedule to making Jets as a draft + 1 year player. Will say it again, when I saw Connor go at #17 in the draft. I thought it was criminal a team would get such a great talent and prospect that late.

While it wouldn't be a surprise if Connor outscores Laine this season, it's also worth noting that the last goal was all about having his confidence built up to the roof from last 2 games where he also managed to score.

Kid can have a really good start to the season.

Yea Connor still looks as relaxed as he did playing for Michigan and scoring does tend to come in bunches when guys are feeling it. All goals may be worth 1 point but they aren't all created equal stylistically. When I saw that cheeky semi no look snipe I was thinking a 1-3-1 PP with Laine on one side and Connor on the other could pose problems for a PK and it will make it tough to cheat towards Patrik. Connor played the opposite side of the PP at Michigan that Laine does and Kyle was the shooter there.

Man, I wish we would have drafted this kid. I don't even have to hold back on posting that now. He was 3rd on my list of who I wanted prior to the draft. And Crouse, was not one of the 2 ahead of him.

What is his realistic ceilling? To me this guy looks like a future 70+ point player

That might be his potential. He looks very good so far. He has high end speed and the puck seems to follow him around. Add to that his scoring knack and I think he'll be a very productive offensive player.
