I still enjoy when Stephane Fiset was almost 30 that he finally told the Kings announcers that it was pronounced Fee-say rather than Fee-set as they had been doing for years. I thought the NHL media guide did have a phonetic listing for each player.

Give he's born in Beijing, it's almost 100% that it carries the "huh" sound. Chinese characters have a lot of homonyms, but 何 is by far the the commonly seen for last name.There's multiple variants of the surname He, which is why I'd love to know just which one.
