I like Perron a lot, a real heart and soul guy. He is on a very good team but he's the engine that makes it go. Ottawa really needs to get with it and sign him so it doesn't become a distraction. And as someone that's a fan of an org that takes an eternity to sign prospects I understand the stance but when someone has earned it there's nothing to gain by waiting every possible last second. There's an article out there saying he should be the league mvp. I think he will take some adjusting to the AHL, there's risky stuff he can get away with in the Q that's not going to work there but that's not unlike other skilled junior players.

I understand that Perron does it all, but idk how Garland doesn't get the MVP. The guy had double the points of anyone on his team.

That's pretty incredible.

I love that he's an all-around guy too, not just mad skillls with this guy. He's a leader and plays in all situations.

It's good for him, but definitely not warranted. How the guy who outscored Perrin by 20 points and his next closest teammate by 60+ points isn't the most valuable player in the league I'll never understand.

Some serious politics coming into this voting result.

I like to compare him to Nikita Kucherov, at least, offensively. His shooting skills are off the chart, amazing skater, always head up reading the play, nifty stickhandler, can make crisp passes all over the offensive zone. ALWAYS in the right spot.

Deadly, deadly shot on this guy.

One AHL season and he's up.

Well that's encouraging.

I love Perron, pure heart and soul. He's a great captain. The points obviously matter too but he's a good one.

He's currently tied in QMJHL scoring with 28 points in 16 GP (although he's played 3+ fewer games because of his suspension).
The Huskies are very close to winning the 'Q' championship and lead the final series three games to zero.
I'm very interested how they'll do at the Memorial Cup considering how most hockey fans view the 'Q' as an inferior league.
But names like: Perron, P. Myers, Lauzon, Timo Meier, AJ Greer, Beaudin this team has legitimate top end talent.

The Q is the weakest league top to bottom, no doubt.

They usually have 1-3 of the top teams in the country. The Huskies and Cateractes are both top 5 teams in the CHL.

Rouyn-Noranda won the President Cup and Perron was named playoff MVP.

That makes him the MVP in both the regular season and playoffs in the QMJHL this season. What a year for him. :handclap:

He finished with 33 points in 18 games played. He had 10 more points than his nearest teammate and missed 2+ games because of a suspension.

So whats Perron going to be as a pro? Is he a risky prospect? Curious for some non sens fans takes

He's a pretty good skater, great hands and hockey sense and a tremendous shooter (wrister & slap shot). In R-N, he plays the point on the power play and is frequently use on the PK. His playing style reminds me a lot of Mike Hoffman (his Q background his really similar too) and I would say that it is a pretty accurate projection for him.

Is he a risky prospect? Well, at this point I think he is far from being a lock regular NHLer. He will a to adapt his game against grown man & tougher competition. He takes too much risk for my liking and trust his hands and skating too much in one on one battle. I really think he will have to be stronger with the puck to be a good NHLer.

Overall, I really like his potential, like I said, he has some think to work on in Binghamton (like every prospect) but I like his chance of being successful. Congrat Sens fans for getting a steal in the 7th round!

Dont do this to me.... I love Kuch drafted him in two keepers, everyone said I reached he's my favorite player in the NHL after Stone.

Ive only watched Perron a couple times I dont think he has Kucherovs top level but if he is anything close the sens have the steal of the draft.

Meh. The Huskies were possibly the best team in the CHL this year, and Perron was their best player and Captain.

He's also a far better two way player than Garland.

What a year for Perron. He's turned himself into a very legit prospect.

If you did watch the serie Moncton vs Rouyn-Noranda then you did had the answer to the most valable player. Garland could not play versus the real teams. Valuable should mean that you should help your team at winning. He could not. Point. Perron is a winng player and made his team to win. Congradulation to Perron and the Huskies.

Perron undoubtedly had a great year, but when you outscore your 2nd highest scorer on your team by 60+pts and have 20 more points then the next highest scorer in the league, it's hard to argue he's not the most valuable.

I could only imagine the outrage if say Crosby didn't win the Hart in 2013/14, and he didn't even double up his teammates.

Garland is not the Crosby of the Q though..Jagr doesn't have 5 Hart trophies to go along with his scoring titles.

I think your really missing the part though where there's more to hockey than just points. You have to be careful when your make your entire opinion based on point totals, like you are

Perron was the better player this year, and your not going to find many people that disagree with that. He was approx 25pts, 50pts, and 60pts up on the next 3 highest scorers on his own team. 38 PIMS versus Garlands 97 PIMS helps in his favour as well.

Look at the playoffs and their head to head matchup for further evidence that they made the right choice.

Again his leadership and two way play were a driving force on maybe the best team in the CHL., and that's why you see Perron with the hardware.
