While I was hoping for a PPG pace in the NCAA, I can settle for 31 points(21 goals) in 34 games.

Generally a good sign when a kid just keeps scoring no matter what league they move on to. I know people like to compare to Wahlstrom but you could start seeing warning signs his first year of College

Actually really good numbers for an 18 year old freshman. Also, remember Eiserman is one of the youngest in his draft class.

He’s never been a high assist guy so for him to he PPG he’s going to have to have better assist numbers. Even in the Development Program he never pulled up on his assist totals, but his goal scoring was always elite. I won’t complain if he’s a pure sniper and just concentrates on attacking and scoring the way he does now.

Well he did get 4 assists in 7 games(3 goals) in a limited role at the World Jrs. lol

Still annoyed me they didn't use him on first unit PP.

Every time I’ve seen this kid play, I’ve thought his shortcomings were overblown. Maybe they’re not but I feel like he got dog piled because it’s the popular thing to do moreso than reality.

He’ll never win a Selke but I think he’s going to be a good top 6 winger and 30-40 goal guy at his peak.

Eiserman definitely has flaws in how he processes the game. I think he can overcome some of those things by relying on repetition rather than instincts. But his instincts for how and where to release that shot are unusual.

he's not a normal player. and i can see him scoring 20 goals on the power play alone.

We all agree his shot is NHL-level, right?

So it's a question of whether he'll be able to get the shot off. Can he get the time, space, and positioning to score well in the NHL?

My opinion is that he seems coachable. And if he's willing to learn, those are things that can to some extent be taught.

Maybe I'm being cynical but I feel like this shot gets deflected out of play 80% of the time in the NHL by even the most average NHL defenseman. The other 18.5% percent, it's going to go right into the goalie's chest.

Especially since the scouting report on Eiserman will be "will ALWAYS shoot", which is funny because a fellow NYI player (Barzal) has a scouting report that is the exact opposite "will NOT shoot".

Can he learn to bait the pass or even pass periodically to keep NHL teams from cheating? Only time will tell.

There's things to be worried about with Eiserman, but this isn't one of them. If you watch him enough, you'll see that he can release from an unusually wide radius. He uses it on that play. I've even see him shoot from a relatively wide angle, and go across the net (as opposed to short side), but I don't think he could've done it in this play. tbh I think Wahlstrom can shoot the puck considerably harder than Eiserman, but Wahlstrom is nowhere near as flexible with his release, nor as accurate. And Eiserman doesn't seem to try to pick corners. But he hits the net, and generally does not shoot into the crest.

It's probably true that he scored that goal because the goalie was off line (should've been closer to the post anticipating that neither a center move nor pass across was likely + knowing who was coming at him). But I disagree about the defender blocking the shot. Eiserman consistently avoids that.

My guess is Eiserman's low end potential is being a Mike Hoffman clone. Guy who has his share of warts but might crack 30 goals a couple times but generally be more in the 25-29 goal range. I would be a bit disappointed if he ends up like that but you could do worse

While yes that was 90% luck, the way he fought to get to the puck and even the power behind his backhand were still somewhat impressive.

I agree the caption was deceptive. Ironically enough though, I really, really like that goal. After he lost control of the puck, the defenseman at one point had position/leverage on Eiserman and the play couldn't easily turned into a scrum in the corner. Instead, Eiserman fought through the check and regained position and leverage to the point where he was able to send a hard backhand at the goal. He made his own luck. I'm not comparing the players, but that's the kind of goal a guy like Kucherov scores - will and talent is a good combo.
