Lavar Ball
Neva Lost
Two more goals against the Petes after the goal streak was stopped at 8 games against London last game
I am hoping Habs first pick?Pretty much zero talk around this great prospect.
32 goals already this season in just 39 games for the 17 year old.
59 points, is +21 with 188 sog.
Pace for 54 goals (65 games)
Great write-up Brock. Really enjoyed that!2023 NHL DRAFT: OHL - Colby Barlow, Owen Sound Attack - Scouting Report/Video Review
McKeen's Director of Scouting, Brock Otten, provides an indepth scouting profile of Colby Barlow with video.www.mckeenshockey.com
My in-depth look at Barlow!
Production will always matter if you go up in the draft. Problem is that most LW guys who play hard and in the crease don't pan out at that level. Looking at the way Barlow plays, he's definitely got a nose for the net but is it enough? You gotta have a decent enough shot and skate well enough to put that frame to work as an NHL'erI just think he's getting overrated now solely on production and size. 8th overall is too rich for me. He's a really solid player and an adept finisher but it really does look like a middle 6 forward here and I think he'll only touch 30 on rare occasions.
His skating and shot are probably Barlow's two biggest strengths, so I wouldn't be too concerned about that stopping him.Production will always matter if you go up in the draft. Okay so that shouldn't be a problem then. His skating and shot are probably Barlow's two biggest strengths, so I wouldn't be too concerned about that stopping him.
Agreed 100%His skating and shot are probably Barlow's two biggest strengths, so I wouldn't be too concerned about that stopping him.
He's not a huge hitter and his puck carrying actually isn't his best attribute, but he's a super hard worker. And while some folks think he's just more physically mature than his peers (which isn't ENTIRELY untrue), he's about 6'1 187 I believe which still leaves room for physical progression.Okay so that shouldn't be a problem then.
Is he capable of using that frame of his however?
sounds good. i'll keep an eye on him if he's available at the 8-12 rangeHe's not a huge hitter and his puck carrying actually isn't his best attribute, but he's a super hard worker. It may have been mentioned already but I like the Zach Hyman comparable.
I like it too, I think he has a very safe projection as a top 6 forward 55-65 ptsHe's not a huge hitter and his puck carrying actually isn't his best attribute, but he's a super hard worker. Skating? I think that's a pretty big weakness for him actually.Barlow has looked good all season. He has size and skating, shooting are pretty good assets to have. The rest he will learn being so young still. Easy top 6 forward if their is such a player this young. OS has a stud to build around.
He reminds me a bit of James Neal
Right now, he's around 20 on my list. I like him, but I'm not buying the top ten hype
I am confusedHe'd be a great target for someone like your Oilers. A complementary winger, got physical maturity, not that far from playing in the NHL. Can finish plays and get involved on the PK.
But for teams looking to get back into the playoff picture and trying to build a team that requires complementary pieces, he shouldn't be a target.
