LW Carter Savoie - Ontario Reign, AHL (2020, 100th, EDM, released)

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Tied for 1st in the entire NCAA in goals and 3rd for points (only 2 behind). If he keeps it up, has a legit shot at the Hobey.

Which would be nuts for a 18 year old true freshman

He not only has a legitimate shot, he’s one of the front runners at this point for the Hobey.

Hopefully he keeps it up. His release is ridiculous, that shot is going to score a lot of goals.

Legitimately one of the cleanest, quickest releases I can remember seeing in a prospect.

Stylistically they're not the same and obviously not the same level of prospect in any way, but the wrister on it's own reminds me of a young Stamkos.

So is FLA gonna trade for Savoie or is EDM gonna trade for Benning to keep this bromance alive in a couple years?
Both seem to be bright spots to a bad start (2-7-1) in Denver.

Bring Benning to Edmonton, bring the old Benning back, trade for Parayko and somehow draft the young Savoie in a few years. Reunite all the St.Albert players

Really the trick to drafting is just draft kids from St.Albert

Only a goal behind Cole Caulfield whose probably a top 3 player in the NCAA.
Pretty good for a 4th rounders D+1 season. Good for him

Damn impressive start for the Freshman. That shot is elite.

1 goal 1 assist tonight. 10 goals in 17 games for the freshman, which puts him amongst the best in the NCAA

Not sure if a hot streak or what. But crazy goal scoring

I don't think it's a hot streak. It's obvious if you watch him play, or saw him play for Sherwood Park, that he is by far one of the most dangerous shooters of his draft class. The question is whether or not his game will translate to the pro level where defenders and goaltenders read you much better. He's not overly fast, but he's not a weak skater either. He's not great in the defensive zone, but he's never been required to be. He isn't big, but he's not weak. His shot his elite and so are his instincts inside the opposing blueline. I expect him to struggle at the next level, but I won't be surprised if he can score frequently enough to stick around. Does that make sense?

Who's your top 3?

It could be a variety of players
-Florida's Pick Ty Smilanic could be considered for the Tim Taylor award he is 2nd in the nation game winning goals
-San Jose's Bordeleau is easily favored over Savoie and is probably tops

Toronto's pick Miettienen is even favored for NCHC rookie of the year over Savoie

Then you got Michgan's big 3.
Not a chance Savoie is considered freshman of the year right now.

Bordeleau
Johnson
Rowe
Miettinen
Power

Lots of talent to choose from. Savoie definitely in the mix, but I'd favor a few of the above over him as it stands today.

Bordeleau my pretty clear favorite so far.
