LW Bill Zonnon - Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, QMJHL (2025 Draft)

Good rookie season in the Q, considering the competition level in the Q is higher what in years.
Not that long cold streaks, steady production through out the season.

15 goals, about 40 points in 56 games so far.
Is +4 and with 112 sog.

Very impresaive rookie season by Zonnon for sure. I thought he was incredibly raw and would take some time to produce numbers in the Q. Seems he was further along in his development than I thought.

Not only that, but he did this on the best team in the QMJHL playing a lesser role as a 17 year old, very good season for Zonnon.

Define what lesser role is?

I have the numbers. At 5 vs 5, he was #1 among all forwards (above Verreault and Loshko) in ice time on the team. He played on the 2nd PP unit and the 1st PK unit in ice time as well.

Dude was a key kog on that team and used in all situations playing nearly 20 minutes a night all year. Tons of responsibilities.

And his season was pretty fantastic even though the goal scoring might have been lower than it could have been.

I think he's tracking to be a top 2 rounds draft pick next year.

How is 58 points in 68 games “shitty” by any stretch? He’s also not even eligible this year.
considering how he did last season, one should expect progress in production
he made only little of progress.

16 goals in 63 games last season, 18 goals in 68 games this season isn't progress
also from 0.65 pp to 0.85 ppg where most of the season he hovered in 0.60 range
but because he went just over 1.00 ppg in the latter part of the season,
pushed his ppg to 0.85

i ( and i presume others) was expecting helluva more

other 2024 and 2025 draft eligible prospects progressed much more
Zonnon did not

that's why i wrote shitty

Had a slow, underwhelming start to the season but did a good job as the Huskies' top Center vs Victoriaville. Smart move by the coaches. They know they have to get Zonnon going if they wanna win this season. If Zonnon is able to not only play Center but stick between the Q's most dangerous wingers (at least right now) then he could be in for a good draft season. So far so good, he won some key faceoffs and had two primary assists (on one each from Verreault and Steiner).

Certainly one of the more interesting forwards of the upcoming NHL draft. Very raw but has fantastic tools.

18 points in 12 games centering the most dominant line in the Q as a first time NHL draft eligible player. Not too bad. Still, he's way more green than you'd expect a late birthday prospect to be but he's probably just a big kid trying to learn a new position. Can also mean that there's a lot of potential to still unlock and him playing Center in his draft season can't be a negative either.

Both Zonnon and Lars Steiner are clearly helped by Verreault who's clearly too good for the Q and playing like a mad man...but it takes three for a line and they're getting the job done. It will be interesting to see if they'll be able to keep it up though once Verreault isn't around anymore.

Must be one of the hottest players in the entire CHL right now. Settled in nicely between Verreault and Steiner and actually caught them in points scored. Has 11 points in his last 5 games and has two points in the first 10mins of the ongoing game vs Gatineau. He's more and more physically imposing as well, starting to really use his size to his advantage. Has looked stronger on faceoffs, too lately.

Had a slow start to the season and was looking really raw and green but he's since really put things together and is on an absolute heater right now. Much more confident, much more intense, much more dominant, much less mistakes. If he can keep this up then he's gonna get drafted pretty early. Big, physical two way Center on pace for north of 100 points in his draft season. What more can you possibly want?

Btw: OP or mods might wanna change titel since Zonnon is playing Center only this season.

He looks good as a center. I think his skill set and approach to the game lend themselves to the center position. Not sure why he couldn’t stick as a C, long-term. There seems to be a lot of skepticism as to whether he can continue to play C.

I was watching Iginla closely this season before his surgery. I was hoping him moving to C would be a successful experiment. But it was pretty clear to me that he was going to end up back at wing. Just watching a handful of games it was clear. I don’t get that from Zonnon. He seems well suited to C.

Incredible name (both the Z surname and him being named Bill)

Really like his frame and how he plays with it. Can't wait to watch him more this season.

Dominant 5 point performance in a 6-5 Huskies win vs league leading Moncton Wildcats.

Didn't think I'd say this a few months ago...but at this point he must be a top10 pick. NHL teams love themselves some big, imposing Centers who can skate. NHL teams are big on trends as well and Zonnon is clearly trending in the right direction. Had a very slow start to the season where he was largely carried by Lars Steiner and mostly Antonin Verreault but it's now clearly him running the show. He caught both of them in points and is now 2nd in scoring leaguewide behind only overager Jonathan Fauchon.

58 points in 38 games is mighty impressive for a big, draft eligible Centerman...especially after a slow start. And I can't describe it but he does this while still looking so raw. I just feel like there's lots of potential still to unlock. He must be one of the biggest risers on draft lists and as stated above I totally expect him to go top10 if the trend continues.

I have only watched him play once this season and “raw” is definitely how I would describe him. Not sure if he’s a first round pick to me, but he’s a solid second round pick for sure. Maybe his surge gets him into the first round, but I would be shocked if he’s a top ten pick.
