I couldn't disagree more. I think he brings a lot of energy. He is always finishing his checks hard. Has a very hard shot. For a 3rd round pick he is turning out great. Confidence is improving as well.
He will be a valuable cost effective player moving forward. Oilers are going to need players like him with the big contract others are going to demand.
Oilers haven't been able to say that for a while about later picks.

Agreed. As for the IQ stuff- I dont know if I can really say if he has a bad IQ or good IQ. He plays a stereotypical depth game. He is reliable with the puck, he grinds hard down low and just seemingly always in a good position. Hes not dynamic with the puck, but given hes a rookie NHLer and fighting for a spot I think hes just playing it safe.

I dont think hell ever amount to a consistent top 6 player but I do think he has the speed and ability to be a complimentary piece on a top 6 line at times. He also has a shoot first menality which is always great to see

Plus this dude is a Flame killer this year. Scored 2 massive goals versus them in 4 of the games. Those goals opened the floodgates

I don't know. I seem to remember him showing up highly on several rankings. Now these are online rankings and don't always reflect opinions of teams, especially when it comes to Russian prospects, but still I wouldn't say he wasn't highly touted.

He's got a nice toolbox (very good skater, heavy shot, physical with decent board play). I'm not sure he thinks the game well enough to ever be a reliable top 6 winger, but he's already a good bottom 6 player in my view. Considering the fact that over the next 5 years the Oilers will probably have to look for cheap replacements for some of their top 6 wing spaces (because of the salary cap), he could get some big chances on McDavid, Draisatl, or RNH's wing (depending on whether or not they keep Draisatl on the wing or move him back to center). Decent pick, all things considered.

He seems like the type of player that Chicago would turn into a very useful middle 6'er. I'm glad to have him for depth, he's been useful in his call ups.

I think Chiarelli is actually quite high on him, I recall him specifically mentioning him last year as one of the prospects that had real potential to impress.

Great i.q, decent skater, nasty shot.

Going under the radar league wide, he will definitely become a regular top 6 winger within years.

Slepy's injury doesn't sound like it's anything to worry about. Might miss a couple games at the beginning of the season is about it.
