This clown has been putting up some BS for some time now... last one i saw from him is that 95 Russian prospects group age is not that good..when clearly its one of the best in last few years
Slepyshev is a round 1 quality player
well, the time will tell whos right. i see you dont agree with me but why reduce yourself to personal insults?
btw how many times you saw slepyishev play?

i dont know what all the fuss is about. he is pretty mediocre player who deserves to be drafted in late rounds but not to be drafted at all in his case is clearly not a tragedy.

Your knowledge about russian icehockey prospects are way too impressive  BTW He was clearly the best player in Russian team at U18 and looked definitely better than Zharkov(91 overall) and Delnov (144 overall) wasnt even a close. However i think he is up there with Zharkov and he wasnt drafted only because of his contract with his KHL club and that he didnt cucked up to NHL GM-s.

Bump.. Any thing new on this prospect ?

He was traded from Metallurg to Salavat where he was able to see some more ice time. Showed good promise for a KHL rookie and will likely be a top player eventually with some more seasoning and development. I don't think he has any interest in coming over.

I could see someone taking a flyer on him in the 7th just like tampa with Gusev last draft. Because they didn't do it last year makes me wonder what is known in NHL circles. I would be suprised if the doesn't get picked but wheather or not he is interested in coming over is another story. He may very well not be interested in NHL hockey. An announcement from him that he does want to come over would boost his stock significantly. Did he attend this year's combine?

Wouldnt mind the Oilers taking him with the 7th round pick. Then sending Yakupov, Belov and possibly Nichuskin over to Russia with a handle of vodka to try and sway him to come over

I didn't know he was the first overall pick in the KHL draft. It will be interesting to follow what happens with him. Always hear great things about his play although some reports contradict his playing styles even though they are all positive comments. To my knowledge his big knock was no certainty he intended to come over. He could pull a Kirill Petrov and by the time he comes over the fan base will forget he was even drafted.

I've seen him play every WJ game, The Canada Russia Subway series games and couple under 18's.

I was very impressed with him.

Called it:handclap:

A bit higher than the 7th, but im ok with it :yo: maybe he would have been chosen in the 4th or 5th.

Ill give MacT credit for drafting Yakimov and then Slepyshev as they are buddies, hopefully that convinces Slepyshev to come over in 2015 or 16.
They are also buddies/ ex linemates of Zharkov who is in Russia this year and Yakimov is from Yakupovs hometown and a big fan of the Oilers.

Slepyshev would be a huge steal if he comes over

He's up on Salavat's top line with Dimitry Makarov and Teemu Hartikainen, and seems to be making the most out of his ice time. A lot of those goals in that video were off beautiful feeds from Hartikainen, another Oilers prospect.

Hartikainen is a leafs prospect

today was an exception, he has hardly been getting good icetime this season (just like previous ones), let alone top line minutes.. in fact, on the season he has averaged 11'27" per game. Even after coming back from a succesfull tournament with the national team his icetime stayed around that figure..

anyway, considering his icetime his production is respectable.

Slepyshev is committed to the KHL for another year. Hopefully he'll come over after next year..He does need to grow into his body though.

Hes not committed to the KHL next season and has stated he is probably coming to the AHL next season.

6 goals in 8 games and looking pretty good. Hell get loads of time in the AHL next year most likely

This thread allowed to be revived? He's been pretty stellar this off season so far. Not sure how prospects work on this board if they've played pro in the KHL.

Oilers actually found a pretty good player past the 1st round.
