The thing is that he's not some perimeter type of guy and he is a much better skater than CC who went midround.Small scorers in the 1st round, apart from Caufield, I don't have any in mind. And Caufield was seen as an exceptional scorer in 2018-19. Schmidt is not at that point. The other element that leads me to put him aside is the number of Canadian forwards who will be in front of him : Misa, Martone, McQueen, Desnoyers, Guite, Spence, O'Reilly, Gavin. And we do not yet know the European prospects who will reveal themselves later.
He will be the 24-25 version of Iginla but the lite version so first round is a distinct possibility.
I see him scoring 45 to 50 goals next year.
