Just woke up to watch the OT.
What happened with the ice time distribution tonight?
Little about 11 minutes 5v5
Ehlers about 15:30 minutes 5v5 and OT
81,26,55 about 21-22 minutes 5v5 and OT
Who is that moron controlling that stuff?

Or did something happen I should know?

I just wonder how anyone could get ten! Minutes more than Little, with his start of his season that sounds not right. Ehlers is clearly this teams best even strength player and gets 5-6 minutes less??
This will quite literally never change as long as Maurice runs the bench.

The team played a solid enough game tonight. There wasn't really much separating either team imo.

The biggest issue to me is this teams inability to generate high quality scoring chances. Once again a good portion of our shots came from the point and low slot area. We aren't getting enough slot chances nor are we getting to the front of the net near enough. Goalies are too good, even with our shooters we aren't scoring a lot from 20 feet out with zero traffic infront. Our play with the puck in the NZ also needs a lot of work. We are a very sloppy passing team in that zone and we don't attack with any fluidity.

The good news is they have shored up the defensive play a bunch. Outside of when the team collapses too tight to the net (allowing the opposition to walk in and shoot from the slot) they have been solid there. The PK was more aggressive today which was good.

Top line just isn't generating the type of offense that should be expected of them. I think we need refigure our top 6 a bit.

The other forward lines all had pretty solid nights.

JoMo looked more like himself tonight which was a good sign. Hopefully he can build off of tonight as he can still play much better (Dominant job in OT). Kuli was solid but playing his offside hurts the breakout of that pair. Ideally we get a solid RS in there.

Nathan with a solid debut, kept it simple and moved the puck well. Pionk was solid as well.

The bottom pairing was a bit exposed at times.

Heller was real strong.

If we can start to build the teams offense we may be ok.
Edit:
Also really like Gus. The kid is going to be a quality player for us.

Well, we saw 27-28-29, so that happened. Fourth line needs to be more functional. They aren't a bad unit, but clearly not trusted to play in close games, so I'd rather see something else.

Another horrific game for the captain. Perhaps he needs more minutes.
Up until he was run into the ground in the final few and entire overtime he was having a decent game. Even drove the net, finally.

One thing I will say against Maurice tonight is that he needs to have a better pulse on his players. The Scheifele line wasn't doing much so Laine and Ehelers should have played more.

You can't teach an old dog new tricks my friend. PoMo refuses to adjust.

55/26 will hide all the warts and flaws on this team by playing even more. Makes sense.

The fourth line isn’t bad at all. Is the fact that they aren’t trusted the fault of the line, or the fault of the coach who would rather give extra minutes to line one?

I agree the top line wasn't doing much but either was the 2nd -
Our top six didn't have a great game - really messy through the neutral zone and difficulty setting up anything in the O zone.
Our back end was better defensively but they still struggle with exits which really hurts our ability to get anything going offensively.
It all starts and ends with our ability to move the puck -
We've played worse and we've played better - take the point.

Well, they gave Wheeler every chance to be the hero. Last shift of the 3rd, 1st of OT, and double shifted at the end. Keep forcing it and eventually it'll pay off.

The team looks so unorganized and lost offensively. This was another game where they had very few quality chances and not a lot of consistent offensive zone time.

Hopefully they can figure something out.

Post-game audio:

Players: Wheeler & Copp.

Coach Maurice scrum topics: On the game being sluggish. Any update on Bryan Little? Where did the puck hit him? What did he think of Nathan Beaulieu's regular season debut? When is the right time to go three forwards in OT? Going back to Kulikov. On Scheifele/Wheeler line being outshot 5 on 5.

Nathan looks like he will help the puck movement of the d. If we could get Kulikov on the third pair with Poolman/Niku it would create a decent third pair. We need a good RS dmen for our top pair but that is likely not in the cards this year barring Buff coming back.
