Vis-a-vis him and his bro:
“We’re two different players in terms of personality on the ice,” Luke Tuch said. “I love playing physical, and hitting guys. That’s where I really thrive, and where I stand out. I think that’s my identity, and it’s what I’ve always been.”
Luke Tuch doesn’t have the explosive acceleration of his older brother, but once he gets going he’s a freight train that opposing players would rather not be in front of.
“He is a hit-first, puck-second kind of guy,” Alex Tuch said. “I’m a guy who would rather steal the puck, and if I can’t then I’ll hit you. That’s something I’ve worked on over the years, is being more physical and using my size. It’s come a lot more naturally to him.

He played up and down the line-up and most of his production came from in front of the net, garbage/dirty goals basically. His coach praises him as a guy you can play on any line, he can keep up with more skilled forwards. Coach praised his performance at the tournament in Czech Rep. Similarly to his bro in his draft year, he started rising on people's list in the final stretch in the season.

I like the pick. Power forward picks scare me but he seems like a good kid and if he works as hard as everyone says he does then that's really one of the most important things to success.

What you call mealy-mouthed, many others call open-mindedness and humility. If you prefer the braggarts that throw their toys out of the pram, that's your prerogative.

I prefer people with something to say, rather than people who feel compelled to say something at all times. Half the supportive posts in this thread are something along the lines of ''if this pick turns out to be good I'll be happy.'' Just...why?

I'm curious about his skating. Just because he won't match his bro doesn't mean his skating is bad. It's not a binary thing.
After all, he is a mid 2nd rounder. This means he has been seen with more flaws/less upside than others, but with his size, he could be a good complement in the top 9. My 2 cent. I only saw the guy after Timmins called his name. Brother of Alex Tuch, IIRC. Good size.

I’m guessing Roope Hintz didn’t do well either on those graphs at the draft... and he’s still a solid piece to a complete puzzle.
I'm guessing he probably did given he was playing Finnish pro hockey in his draft year and was good for the U20 team at 17.

I don't really have a problem with this pick myself but I'm not sure what Tuch and Hintz have in common beyond they're both big forwards. Hintz is a fantastic skater, Tuch by all accounts is an OK skater but with him we're into the territory where you're adding qualifiers like "agile for his size" when praising his skating vs. Hintz who is just a flat out excellent skater and that's a huge difference.

From what I remember, Hintz improved his skating from "good for his size" to simply great between his draft year and today. If Tuch can improve his skating, he might get there. Considering how bad our track record is when it comes to developing prospect with skating issues though, I'm not super optimistic. Maybe if he stays 3-4 years at BU.

No, he tweets a bunch of quality tracking and videos of all prospects.

Lol, semi-rhetorical bud

Just pointing out all of his mentions of Tuch seem to be in the negative, and that theres more to life than skewed USHL tracking statistics of all things that vary from year to year and player to player

After his first NCAA season we'll have a real sense of just where this guy is and who he is, but all these things that come out about him from high school and the past, its just honestly who cares at this point, the door is shut on that.
He's drafted, he's going to NCAA, Decent program, and we move from there.

Most of the twitter scouting community (who all have jobs with various online publications like The Athletic, for reference) aren't very high on his offense.

I haven't been either. I hope he continues to refine his game.. but the mentions of Tuch are going to be negative when the majority of your game last year offensively doesn't track well.

He's most likely a 3rd liner, which could be worse for sure

We just have to hope he's at least better than De La Rose honestly

Ouch!!! Gelinas, McGuire and whoever it was before 3:45 (I'm born and raised french-canadian but these guys are just cringeworthy it's humiliating really), i feel like players must think we're all a bunch of dummies if these are the guys that cover hockey for us (french), with good reason, if we send "deeze genius two demand de question: hello luke, do you like your broder and do you like de kenadiens... Tanks"... Holy crap!!! Sry just had to say it, Lavoie just makes me want to hide in a hole everytime he opens his mouth... TVA spanre crew is no better if not worse... Uurrrghhh... Kinda glad i got rid of cable a few years ago... Wrong thread my bad i felt so ashamed for a bit lol... Sry

And where the hell would you of played him?

There simply was no more room for domi anymore,it was fun, but he was done here, clearly

Subpar season, even more atrocious playoffs

Dans le fond,he ended up what we feared at the beginning, Too.small.

Quite happy to have replaced his no wing ability terrible effort for a much bigger guy, equally as fast

If domi WOWed on the power play I may of questioned this some but he was TERRRRRRRRRIBLE, I could not get over it, what can he even bring our team anymore, nobody has been able to come up with a solid answer

I wasn't talking about keeping him. I was all for moving him.
We were discussing the deal CLB signed him to, compared to Anderson's. I said the Domi contract he got makes sense. He's still a question mark, had issues with his coach, finished the year on the 4th line, okay so you sign him short term.
Anderson has one season over 40pts, he's coming out of a big injury year where he only scored 1G 4pts in 26gp...there's even more questions surrounding him. Locking him up to 7 years is really risky.

Too bad there's no real video of him. I'm intrigued but my gut is telling me we should've tried to go with higher upside.

there is but it's behind a pay wall and it's not cheap. I likely will get a month or so when the USHL games start up in less then a month so I can get old games with it so i can see all our prospects that played in the USHL last year.

Reading through the comments and using the 2013 draft as a reason to not draft Tuch is probably not the most fool proof logic. Him not having as varied a skill set as McCarron might be a good thing. McCarron seemed to have an identity crisis at some point (though that may have been enforced on him top down by Sly and whomever). Am I a playmaking C? Am I a goon? Should have I been developed on the wing? (Yes you should have).

Tuch shouldn't have that problem because he likely plays a simpler game from what I hear. More likely he knows what he is more than McCarron and can concentrate on what will make him succeed. I like hearing that he has a big shot. Heartened that his lack of production could be due in part of his poor team.
