He really is rough defensively. I'd definitely be going 11-7 with Luke. I'm not taking out Bahl. That's a massive negative swing defensively. Run both of them and for the love of god fire Wood into the f***ing sun.

That's how it should be. I hate that goals on delayed calls cancel out goals.

This rule isn't stupid at all. This rule makes perfect sense.

No it doesn’t make. A goal on a minor penalty ends the penalty. On a delayed penalty you can pull the goalie for an extra attacker essentially starting the PP. You are essentially allowing a team to possible score two goals for a penalty that is only supposed to yield at most 1.

It's still 6-6 on a delayed call. A PP is 6-5.

Luke Hughes simply can't perform in the big games when all the chips are down. The Rangers, Islanders, or Panthers will expose him badly in the playoffs.

He's an 18/19-year-old on a team full of freshmen and sophomores playing against players four and five years older.

He'll be fine but hopefully this dispels any thoughts of him jumping into the New Jersey lineup.

Luke seemed to be battling something like a virus tonight. Disappointing end to his college days but he will be able to put that behind him with NJ. I wouldn’t bring him in until he’s over whatever illness he has.
Frozen 4 appearance is not tremendously disappointing.

Minnesota and Quinnipiac were ranked 1 and 2 pretty much all year...the finals are most appropriate.

Luke had an amazing NCAA career two frozen 4 appearances... that's nothing to look back on with regrets

It’s 6 skaters to 5 skaters and then 5 skaters to 4 skaters.

You allow the team being fouled to have a skater advantage twice. It’s silly.

That doesn't change the fact it's still 6-6 players and 6-5 players. A delayed penalty is still even strength. Just because you can pull the goalie doesn't change the fact the game state hasn't actually changed. Then there's the time's where you don't even get the goalie off and you score the goal and you don't get the PP. It's f***ing stupid.

I think at the NHL level he’ll be better defensively than he was with Michigan. The structure is so important and the over exposed 1-on-1 situations will essentially be eliminated.

Hughes is very much closer to an NHL type player than one who needs to rely on his collegiate counterparts.
While I agree his defense still needs work. I think it's going to take him a couple of years.

The game state has changed drastically as your opponent can not control the puck without a stoppage being induced.

The skater balance and this fact is a huge change in the game state.

The most valuable time after a delayed penalty is actually before the PP starts because you can score and your opponent effectively can’t. Teams would rather play in this situation than basically any other.

He’s just not ready yet. Let him cook for a while.

Cook where? He doesn't belong anywhere near the AHL
He struggles to defend in college let alone the AHL. If Jack wasn’t his brother, we would be completely fine letting him develop in a top pairing role in Utica. And there’s nothing wrong with that.
