What would classify in your eyes...a solid rookie season for Slaf (if we get him) and Luke?

Remember that you called Jack a "disgrace" so it's apparent you have a very different outlook.
75+ games, 30 to 40-ish points(usage dependent- less if he used as a 3rd liner more if he is used in a top 6 role with PP time) a down low presenens on the PP, some effective use of his size and play making ability. ....I would call that an excellent rookie season.

Luke I wouldn't put estimates on. Too many questions... who'll he'll be paired with, what side will he play, will they try to reign him in at all? Will he be on the PP at all?

I don't think points is how we want to measure Luke...of course it's an important part of his game, but I think in his rookie season we are going to want see how much he can handle as opposed to just points...poise, situational awareness, positioning will tell us more about his ceiling than points will. I'm always willing to give a D man with the tools time to work out the kinks ...playing D is much more academic than playing forward is and every single young D man needs time... defending is reacting - to react well you need to see scenarios with repetitions...Offense not so much.

So Id expect Luke to produce well early ..how well will depend on a lot though.

CJ Turturo's take today is that Luke Hughes simply had a "nice" season and we should pump the brakes on him lol

I think this guy just says shit just to say it
As someone who works as an analyst in another industry, I can say that CJ has a very clear bias towards qualitative results and does not account for qualitative aspects well. You have to take what he says with a grain of salt given how glaring his biases are.

He's the ultimate midwit.

He cited Bader's model, which is just, chef's kiss:

Don't really care for CJ one way or the other, but I found the followup to that tweet even funnier. He mentioned Luke was 4th in NHL-er probability, behind 3 players... one of them being Cole Sillinger. Who you know, played in the NHL this year. So I would have to imagine his "probability" of being an NHL-er would be pretty high.

He was basing all this off of Bader's model lol, all that needs to be said. Everyone in the hockey community sees Luke for what he is after this season and a good performance at the WC so far, but I guess he has the answer lol. Luke still has some stuff to work on, but he'll be great.

Guess we should've drafter Zellweger lol...holy crap.

I'm pretty sure CJ flip flopped on Hynes about as much as I flip flopped on the Panthers winning or losing in both rounds the last couple of weeks.

I think it was him that was calling for his head at one point, before being so butthurt that he got fired.

Those Twitter posts are so dumb, I’m now honestly dumber for having read them.

Yeah, we could have picked Guenther… and had a guy who now doesn’t project better that Luke using the data you’re presenting as proof? Good point.

Wow, Clarke is a bit better still but Eklund really isnt (if you go by both rating). Good talk.

“Talent mining” lol. You can only pick one guy my man.

And they knew Hughes was injured? And they have their own projections? Even Bader tries to save CJ from himself here.

The funniest part about all of this is that he’s literally even in star probability with Zellweger and he’s a % pt below Guenther. It isn’t like Luke’s down at 40% and the others are at 80%.

Who would you rather have the Devils hire ? Bader as head of scouting or Pierre McGuire as GM?
Oh edit .. or Leah Hextal as the new PxP person to replace Cangi , and Gillies as new goaltending coach?

People can shit on Bader all they want but I highly doubt if you followed his model you’d do bad

Ok so Bader as head of scouting is your pick.
Im going with Leah Hextal as our new Play but play person . It wouldn’t effect the on ice product. We would not have any fans left watching games but no biggie.
