But why? is he even that much of an upgrade? from what ive seen his posession stats are terrible but that is due to him starting somehting like 75% of plays in the defensive end. Can someone give me a quick and dirty analysis of this guy please?

He plays on the 4th line with our "awesome" defence, everyone would be a possession "black hole"!

If they completely blanket and shutdown Crosby, Malkin, Bergeron, Backstrom, Point and Stamkos go for it.
In all seriousness, Glendening shut down Johnson and when he got hurt, thats when Johnson went beast mode and controlled the series. You will like Glenny in the playoffs no doubt.

True but at the same time, Khan usually doesn't mention names unless he's heard through a reliable source of a specific name being mentioned at the same time.

Here's the exact quote from the article...take what you will out of it.

"The Red Wings have made it clear they're not giving him away; they want a decent pick or one of Toronto's many good prospects. Right wing Kasperi Kapanen, who's appeared in 16 games for the Leafs this season, is a possibility."

Listen, we all know thats coming from the Detroit side. Leafs fans have nothing to worry about. Just let us have our fun before Glenny gets traded for a 4th.

I know i read the article, But at the same time Khan could've heard through the grapevine that Detroit would be asking for Kasperi Kapanen and that's why he mentioned him by name.

This seems like a pointless trade. The upgrade from Dominic Moore is minimal at best. The Leafs should be acquiring defensemen, ideally two of them and not wasting any time on a fourth line center. This is a waste of assets acquiring Glendening.
Babcock *really* likes him.

That's the exact series Babcock probably has wet dreams about. He literally was the reason Johnson did nothing. Glendening goes out, Johnson tears it up.

Forgot all about that series but you're absolutely correct.

What now, another 2nd rounder for a 4th liner? If you can't find a 4th line player in free agency in offseason you failed as a general manager.

no

Boyle>>>Glendenning.

this is likely martin and a 3rd/4th

Looks like the deal will include Kasperi Kapanen going to DET! That would be a HUGE get for the Wings!
We won't give up our second but we'll give you Kapanen, that makes sense..................

Poor wing fans if they're actually expecting this, you guys should be happy with a third.

I would do Leivo and a 4th or just a 3rd straight up.

All value aside, I would rather hold on to Glendening as the Red Wings' 4th C. He's perfect for the role. He can chip it with 25 pts, is great in the face-off dot and is a great PKer, plus he's signed to a decent contract at 1.8M. Alas, we all know what a great PKer is really worth (see Drew Miller - playing in the SHL this year).

Unless Bert and a 2nd are coming with Glenny I don't see how we even listen to that.

If the Leafs would be able to get Bertuzzi for Kapanen, it'd be the steal of the year. Not sure people realize how good he can be and there's no reason to think he wont be, as he's making a seamless transition into the league. He has Marchand traits and as his confidence grows, he could be a very good NHL player. And they're not just the bad traits, although some of those seem to exist too.

I don't think the Leafs will pay more than a 4th. Possibly, with conditions that make it a third. I think a second is too much and I think they will keep Matt Martian, maybe even play him on Saturday.

BobbyMac said in the pre-game LG makes more than anyone should want to pay him.

Gets the sense Leafs are offering low-end return. Which I take to be something like a 5th.
