Well yeah, it's that or stacking boxes at the Home Depot.
But come on, is a guy who tries really hard top achieve very little really that much of an upgrade on someone who coasts on talent and achieves the same? The end result is the same, except the first guy is performing at his absolute best to get nothing done.
Do you prefer to see your teammates coasting or giving 100%?
Does giving 100 per cent matter much when your top end is "terrible hockey player"?
I guess that's one way to sidestep the question.
Well geez, it's a silly question. Who doesn't want teammates who give their all? But even better than teammates who give their all are teammates who can play the damn game.
Would you prefer Patrick O'Sullivan or Luke Gazdic as a teammate?
And the purpose of this exercise is...?
So the 4th liner with the least amount of ice time is supposed to be the determining factor in the game. He plays his role very well, he can skate well enough to get hits in and he fights when the occasion calls for it. He also pumps a little bit of life into the building, something that the supposed goal scorers haven't been able to do.Good thing it helped us wi---nope.
Good thing we at least got motivated by it and scored lots of goa---nope.
So basically, the fights did sweet eff all for us. Great.
I'm just curious how far you'll go in taking a teammate who can play the game(O'Sullivan) over a teammate who gives 100%(Gazdic).
Thing with your example is there's coasting and there's guys who have no ****s to give at all. That would be PoS, a guy whose personal issues completely overwhelmed his talent and made him ineffective. It's like a chronic injury.
But you know, all else being equal, I'd take him over Gazdic.

Hopefully with Scrivens signed now, getting a deal done for Gazdic will be the next focus for MacT.
Is this serious?? lol
well other than the trade deadline of course
lol maybe i'm just being a tad excited that we've finally found our enforcer who knows his role, does it well, and can play some hockey.
Gazdic can't even receive a pass. I very much disagree with this statement. I mean, Gazdic makes JFJ look like Jagr.
Really don't get the people who pick on Gazdic. Yeah he lacks a lot of skill but he's the only guy giving us something to cheer about.
Why pick on a 4th liner who actual brings some effort and toughness when the top 6 and top 4 are a joke in both aspects? Get your priorities straight
Wow…can't believe you actually think this way. Especially considering our butter soft teams the last few years. Each to his own I guess.Gazdic can't even receive a pass. I very much disagree with this statement. I mean, Gazdic makes JFJ look like Jagr.

How can we pick on top picks that scored all of zero goals the past two games?
I'm with you Paralyzer. Gazdic is doing what he needs to to earn a paycheque but he won both fights and the team still looked like crap and lost. He isn't a part of the solution when it comes to winning hockey games. He entertains those who enjoy fights, but that's not what I care about.
A guy like him should not be a part of an NHL team unless he figures out how to play NHL calibre hockey. He seems like a pretty smart guy as well, and I'm not blaming him for embracing the enforcer role to pick up a real nice paycheque, but having a player like Gazdic on the roster is just a giant hole for a team that needs to score goals.
I will admit they need to get better breaking out of the zone but once they get on the forecheck they have actually looked pretty good. And for a big guy he actually skates pretty well. We need to be tougher to play against, what's your solution?I've asked this question a few times but nobody seems to want to answer it in this thread.
How does Gazdic make the Oilers better? He gets hemmed in his own zone every shift, he can't make or receive basic passes, he isn't a very good skater, and every once in a while he beats somebody up.
How does any of this make the Oilers a better team. Don't tell me he makes us tougher or harder to play against because that's ********.

This is a thread discussing Gazdic. If you want to bemoan that stuff go ahead and make a thread for it.
