at least his coach has good things to say about him, have been really worried about his production since I haven't seen him play since earlier in the year where he looked fine to me just didn't produce.

He's been doing pretty good, better than his production would indicate . He's been used in a variety of roles, the club is having a bit of a transitional year with some vets leaving. His coach put him with the Davidsson brothers in the last few weeks and their line has been clicking . I'm expecting his stats to pick up soon.

wow thanks for this. yeah i was almost starting to write him off. I was really hoping his production would take a leap. Nice to hear he's getting props from the coach. Interesting to see how he develops.

Almost forgot about him. Here's an article on him dating July 27th

Looks like we have another Jacob De La Rose coming in the pipeline. Not necessary a bad thing.

nice to have some context to his underwhelming season. Really hope he can continue to grow stronger/bigger. Would love it if he had a breakout year. Doubt he'll be anything special to equal to the hype of the Timmins/Rockstrom 'sleeper pick' talk but he's still young and has some tools.

If he could be able to take over for Schlemko when his contract expires, and fill in a similar role (bottom pairing, maybe 2nd wave PP) on an ELC, that would be just fine. At this point, don't see why he couldn't. Juulsen might even be ready to join him on the right side by then, who knows. He should have his eyes set on Benn's spot in the lineup pretty soon. Should get interesting.

I think you're talking about someone else, Vejdemo is a center.

That's exactly what player development for the Habs needs to succeed in doing from now until those contracts expire. Rather than need to give a D like Benn a raise, for example, to keep him aboard, we need to be able to adequately replace him from within. Same for Schlemko. That's how the team will be able to control the Cap constraints and pay their better players the big contracts they will command. Either they play the youngster or they use that as leverage to re-sign the veteran at a more reasonable cost (if they truly want to stay with the team, obviously).

Overpaying for 3rd pairing Ds or 3rd and 4th line players is just a recipe for disaster. It's like when a team wins a Cup and their complementary players whose contracts are expired now line up for huge raises.

Makes no sense to give it to them. The team just likely won because of the Cap flexibility which their previous contracts had given the GM to sign better players in more vital positions.

Officially confused.

As for Vejdemo, he needs to get better ice time and better line mates. Playing with a couple of rookies on a bottom 6 line like last year won't help his development in any way. There's still plenty of time.

yeah it's still possible but my expectations for anything exciting are gone. i definitely bought into that initial post draft hype from Timmins/Rockstrom.

He does seem to have some interesting tools and you seem to have given the right context of what was a poor sophomore season on the surface. There still could be something there but my hopes aren't that high.

He was basically a ghost at development camp, was he not? We'll see what he's got this year and then it's probably a wrap.

Another one of Timmins' head scratching picks. Using a 3rd on an overager that wasn't even that good.

That won't be difficult

Wow useless, pointless comment. Anyway, he doesn't stand a very good chance of becoming anywhere near as good as Eller as it stands. If Eller was still a Hab, you'd probably be praising him anyway, just like you do with Shaw and will do with the likes of DLR, McCarron, etc.

No he certainly won't. He's barely a 10 point player in the SHL. He's not going to turn into an effective everyday NHLer if this trend continues. Eller is a good 3C.

I have no clue what to make of him. Saw him a lot 2 years ago and liked what I saw but he needed to put it all together and it remains to be seen if he can do that. He's got the size, the skating, the speed, but just leaves you wanting more from him. Still an interesting pick that the Habs likely reached for since they had no 4th rounder that year and must have felt he wouldn't last until 131st where they next picked. As one of the last picks of the 3rd round I'm not expecting much, he'll have 2 years to show management something and then they will need to make a decision on him.
