Lucic vs Reaves

Looch has been starting fights slowly as he ages. He'd likely be fighting from behind which may not be wise against Reaves.

He's fighting smarter. Hasn't seemed to hurt him so far.

That said, Reaves starts instantly. If Lucic weathers that storm, I think he will get Reaves in trouble.

Lucic has been one of the best counter punchers since he came into the league. Reaves likes to overwhelm and get going as soon as possible, which is exactly what counter punchers like - they don't panic like other fighters do when feeling overwhelmed and are instead waiting for the right timing. Stylistically, I think Lucic is the favorite between the two. But it's a fight and both guys are good at what they do, experienced, and will change tactics when they see fit.

Jon Scott said Lucic is currently the best puncher coming down the middle, which is how he knocked down McDermid.

this is a good assessment. Lucic has KO power. Another guy who has major KO power and the hand size to match is Xhekaj.
Reaves is a great fighter but the tends to flail wildly and overwhelm guys

I must be missing something, Reaves has never stood out as an excellent fighter. If this were the 90's-2000's he'd have to be a better fighter just to play, and in reality he's just scraping up wins on former middleweights that are now hockey's "best" fighters, but they're not.

He's just a big boy leaning on usually smaller guys and trying to out-pace them, but there's no fighting skill like you'd get nostalgia for in other eras. For a guy who calls people spot pickers and acts like the king of the fighting ring he's a huge spot picker....
