Yeah i possibly could see him in LA rather than in Anaheim myself, Very good looking team on their way up.he is still good friends with a lot of Kings. I could see him wanting to go there
True, It's not like many contenders could afford his cap hit, And Anaheim with their $40,000,000 in cap space could fit him nice and comfortably. He loved his time in Socal I could see him wanting to come back.
Not like many playoff teams can afford his cap hit
I don't hate the value but don't see it happeningLooked it up Poirier? What about Lucic, '23 #1 pick and '24, #2 pick, Poirier for Dvorak?
?One of those guys makes $1.0 and the other $1.75 - big difference from $5.25 (yes I know the actual dollars is less, but to any team with cap constraints thats a big difference)
K, maybe mid season revisit itI don't hate the value but don't see it happening
Flip side is, if he's made his money and is only getting paid under $1 mil, he's really not losing much relative to how much he's worth. There are worse places to live than So Cal for a little while, then possibly get moved at the deadline.Yeah those California taxes are pretty brutal.
I could see him waiving to Arizona for the purposes of a buyout, toss in a 3rd rounder or a B prospect. Costs the Coyotes very little cash and the cap hit goes away almost entirely the first year. Helps them get to the floor while saving 5M. Looch is free then to sign anywhere but Arizona or Calgary for more money than he would have gotten or retire if he prefers.
Obviously I meant trading him after his signing bonus was paid.Buyout to Arizona or any other team doesn't work as that team would have to pay Lucic's $3m signing bonus plus 2/3rds of his $1m salary.
Total of $3.67m in real cash.
That's 1st round pick territory worth of value.
Obviously I meant trading him after his signing bonus was paid.
His salary next year is 4mThe Flames need to offload salary. Seems like the Ducks have space and could use some beef to protect their young stars. What would a deal look like? Lucic has one year left with a cap hit of $5.25m but he is only owed $875,000 in actual money. If the Ducks aren't worried about being a cap team this seems like a bargain for what he has brought this year. Assuming Lucic agrees to waive of course.

I have never heard this before. That's all fine and dandy.
However the only team that can buyout Lucic after his signing bonus is paid is the team that pays the signing bonus.
Calgary can't pay the signing bonus and afterward trade Lucic to a different team who then buys him out.
3M of that 4M is paid on July 1st and then there os the retention from Edmonton as well. So after July 1st Lucic is only owed 1M total for the entire season, and 875k from the team that he is playing forHis salary next year is 4m

the legend bar is that low?I think Arizona is the team.
Really, I think he retires. He already is a legend in Calgary, that would only cement his legacy as a true beauty.
Not arguing Anaheim's interest. Was just correcting the statement on how much he is owed in actual moneyI mean lucic makes sense for Anaheim
- Short term
- little real money
- higher cap(we’re not going to be near cap so doesn’t bother us much
- should be able to pick up an asset to take him
- heavy weight that can help protect young team
Biggest thing on the value is how many teams want him, and how much cap space is worth…. Which will be dictated by how much interest in lucic + his ntc
It's 875K after his bonus is paid out on July 1.His salary next year is 4m

I have my doubts
I have never heard this before.
I think you're wrong about that. I think we will get an asset (not a significant one) if he agrees to waive. 875K for what Lucic brings is a sweetheart deal if he agrees to waive for a budget team. He's probably a 2M player.Lucic would be a good addition to a rebuilding team with cap space to spare. He'll add some toughness and veteran presence to the lineup. That being said, no one is trading for him unless Calgary sweetens the deal.
Lucic. Calgary's 2022 1st for Anaheim's 2022 3rd.
