Lucas Raymond, 19 years old, 22 points in 24 games

First off, as he pointed out, it's D+2 for the 2020 guys.

Secondly, if your goal is to stand on anecdotal evidence, I can just as easily ask who the best player is from the 2017 draft...

Ah, yes, it's D+2 for Raymond, sorry.

As to your question, in D+2 season it was Pettersson for sure. Now he's 3+7 after 22 games... Is this anecdotal?

You keep using that phrase. I do not think it means what you think it means.

What you're talking about isn't preferential treatment at all.
I gave you a link to a definition from a dictionary. You want to argue with the dictionary?

It is you who does not want to accept a precise definition that is not mine at all. It means exactly what the dictionary says it means and not what you want it to mean or think it to mean.

You can come up with examples for both, but Detroit's front office doesn't suck ass like Vancouver's. (And for as much as people love to bash him, Blashill is a way better coach than Green) There seems to be a trend of prospects that bust being on the same group of teams. (Montreal not being able to wait with Galchy and KK, for example) Point is, development is huge. Also, Yzerman seems to put a massive emphasis on character and compete level.

Either way, I don't understand the big deal with people speculating that he could be the best in the draft on a board called Hockey's Future, at a time where he's certainly playing way better than anybody else from that draft.

But then again, you and I are both interrupting a riveting conversation about the definition of preferential treatment with our boring hockey talk. What scum we are.

Except the Dictionary doesn't define it the way you seem to imply it does. McDavid doesn't get preferential treatment by his coach, he gets performance based treatment. Not the same.

Apparently the swedish team (Johan Garpenlov precisely) forgot to add him to shortlist of players and therefore we might not see him in the olympics ... wow

I like how he has been getting high quality scoring chances. Earlier in the season especially he missed on some damn good chances. He's not scoring on fluke goals and his numbers are closer to being better then worse if that makes sense. I fully expect him to run into a cold streak of some sort. All players do.. We will have to see how he responds. Let's hope he doesn't respond to a cold streak like Mantha would.. spreading his cold streak around to everyone around him.. A frozen hurricane out there spinning around. He probably spread it to his opponents also

I think its for the best, there always players injured in the olympics and such, there is always some predatory hit on our Swedish players. I'd love to see Swedish NHL pros in the olympics, but not young master Raymond, I'll follow him in the Wings jersey instead.

Chicken or the egg. Mantha's cold streaks in large part were caused by him not giving a shit.

He is probably no Ovechkin, but a talented rookie on a bad team where he gets preferential treatment right away. Why would not he be able to have a great rookie season? He won't keep up with the pace he set probably, but he can still finish the season as the Wings best player easily.

Why do you think he gets gets preferential treatment?
Regarding your question "Why would not he be able to have a great rookie season?"
Well, he is only 19 years old, not fully developed yet physically, playing his first games ever in the NHL and on a small ice surface. Plenty of reasons. There is an adjustment period that many young players go through, but he has made a seamless transition which is very unique, especially at that age.

Not sure this kid can maintain this pace, but I am happy for the Wings either way. Detroit has some young talent and a bright future.

Scrub. Only at near PPG because he gets preferential treatment. Every other decent rookie in the league would also put up similar production playing for the known offensive juggernaut Detroit Red Wings with esteemed superstars Dylan Larkin and Tyler Bertuzzi.

Holy f*** y'all are still arguing over the definition of preferential treatment?

Yes, it actually is anecdotal.

I mean, EP is still leading his draft class in points and just had a slow start, like Nylander did a couple of years ago. He also is close to PPG and over PPG in playoffs. This def is cherry-picking from your side.

Skinner was a decent player btw, just got injured a lot.

PS Why all the trouble though. Chinakhov is better or what?

What a player. I didn't expect to see this aftet watching him at U20, but kid's lethal. Calder race pretty much over at this point.
