I've never liked Brown as a hockey player outside of his miracle 40 game run in 2012, but I said the same a year ago.

Made no sense whatsoever for Dean to essentially side with Sutter over Brown in their squabble, and then turn around a keep Brown on the team.

Sutter should have been goooooone after last year. I can guarantee Brown's production will rebound even more once Sutter is out of here.

A lot of teams. Kopitar, despite the down year, is still a valuable commodity to 2/3 of the league. Selke winning Cup champion. Consistent 70 point #1 Center up until this year.

We're not going to get a lot back, but a lot of teams would kill for Kopitar. Up until this year he was a unanimous top 10 center in the league. One bad year doesn't kill all of that value.

The production doesn't matter. What team is taking on, or is able to take on, a $10m cap hit? A contender? A cap floor team? A building team with their own guys they have to sign? Is it a Phaneuf type deal, with 2 or 3 mid sized contracts for a couple years coming back, but no prospects or picks? The value is just getting out from the contract?
