Losers in DET

Yes, let's stay hyper focused on Nieto. I'm sure a DIFFERENT 4TH line curtain jerker turns it ALL around for us.:help::rolleyes:

If Nieto wasn't here we'd surely make the playoffs, just like last season and the season before.
They should lean more on Nieto because he's so good and they'll make the playoffs if he gets 25 minutes a night.

Last night in 15+ minutes Accairi had these stats only 1 hit, 1 received hit 5 face off wins 4 face off losses.... no shots, rushes, rebounds, nothing that was it

Nieto and 2 shots, 1 hit, 1 received hit in 14 minutes, nothing else

The penalty kill had 6 shot attempts against, 1 block by POJ

I just don't understand how these 2 plugs get the icetime they receive when they are negative value in every aspect of the game. They aren't even summoning up enough karma to be the ones that get injured during the play, nooooo that goes to players like Karlsson getting hit in the face or Glass getting hurt blocking a shot, these two pylons don't even do enough to get hurt. they can go away forever, at least Tanner Glass hit people, 29 minutes of ice time between them and they deliver 2 hits combined.

To be fair this isn't all on Nieto and Acciari, they are going to take as much ice time as the coach gives them, no player is going to refuse ice time. It's entirely on Sullivan that they are exposed to these situations like they are. It shows a complete lack of awareness, the inability to line match, the inability to read the flow of the game and get players out there that are hot, and sit players who are cold. He doesn't coach anymore he just manages ice time. Sid had 22 shift last night, Acciari had 20. Sids shifts lasted longer, but come on... you cannot convince anyone that they should be even close in the number of shifts taken. And we all know that longer shifts wear out a player more, so if Sullivan was interested in coaching, Sids shifts should have been shorter and he should have had more of them. This is why him and Geno look tired late in games. Sullivan just is not a coach anymore.

Any tiny hope i had was swiftly doused by the isles and wings games. Heading back to the cellar.
Yep, 2 out of 6 possible points against the Isles and Wings, both near the bottom of their divisions, tells you all you need to know about this team lol…Sullivan should already have been fired…getting tired of his game management lol

I have always been poor at inserting gifs and links lol, maybe I can get Nieto to do it
"i'm on it, coach!"

I don't think it is necessarily replacing Nieto that all of a sudden makes them better, it's the fact that Nieto and Acciari get almost 14-15 minutes a game in important situations when the team is down a goal or the team is desperately clinging to a lead... Nieto, Acciari, Glass, Beau, Doc are complete junk, but because 2 of them "play the right Sullivan way' they get insane minutes for what they are. They should be under 8 minutes a game if they have to be in this lineup, yet.... 14 minutes it is.

Count the amount of shifts line 4 gets when it's 5 mins left in the 3rd, the last bunch of games this line is getting 6+ shifts in these situations when they should be headed to the showers.
Exactly. It's not about Nieto, it's about Sullivan. We can just keep bringing up crap players like Nieto.

This team is the Pirates until they fire Sullivan.

So, the Pens new year's resolution hasn't changed. Good to know...

Apparently, neither has Rusts.

Those Mid-year results/resolutions.
17-17-5 = 39 and a -25 goal differential

May the Mid be with you!

I don't disagree with your premise, however in considering the context (which is a mediocre team going nowhere) it really isn't gonna change this teams trajectory. So in the scheme of things it's a non-issue. Also with their elevated ice time I know Acciari and Nieto play on the PK, that might be part of it. But again I don't believe there is a discernible change in the teams fortunes one way or the other.

This team has far bigger issues to deal with.

Very interesting that the Pens record against their division is so mediocre. The only thing that separates division games from others is knowing how to break the other teams system better than teams you rarely play. Can't wait till Brindamour schools Sullivan next week.

Kinda neat how last year they were dragged down by a historically bad powerplay, but this year they propped up by a good powerplay, and the end result in the standings will be the same: Just outside a playoff spot. Not rebuilding or contending. Mushy middle.
