i think, most people, would agree that this series is 1 or 2 bounces away from being 3-0 rangers rather than 3-0 kings.

its not. were losing, and will likely be out in a game or 2. but i think its disingenuous to hail the kings as overlords of the sport of hockey without even acknowledging this series is unbelievably close.

I think you're just being a homer.

Wonder if you were saying the same thing about the Devils in 2012 through 3 games. The two series have been eerily similar. I pray the Rangers can get to game 6.

Don't know how the Rangers overachieved. Hank had an average season by Hank standards and the team was still one of the best teams in the NHL post January 1st.

Literally if Dan O'Halloran does his job I think you're singing an entirely different tune. This is a very good hockey team.

If the Rangers go on to lose, I'll have any easier time dealing with it than I will with the game 2 loss.

I'll never get over that loss. Never.

Im not even being overly pessimistic. I am thrilled and surprised the team even made it this far. They are playing with house money.

They are also losing to a better team.

I think thats a fair way of looking at it.

I think its worrisome though that a lot of our key parts are going to be gone next season. the likelyhood of keeping Stralman, Pouliot, Boyle, MZA, Brassard, & Moore all here are very low imho. I dont even consider Richards a key part to this team going forward...or even this year.

Those other guys are, and were going to be worse off barring some magic by Sather.

No doubt about that. But are they the best?

so wait....rangers have 2 goal leads in each of the first 2 games...out chanced the kings 2-1 in the 3rd game, and got a very poor call in game 2, and you dont think this is a close series?

youre calling me a homer? lol thats hilarious.

Also, St. Louis will be on an absolute warpath until the end. I guarantee it. Guy wouldn't even talk to the media last night. He's going to be on another level.

FWIW I think the Rangers pretty much felt they should have one at least one of the games in LA. Then there's last night. A bit of self doubt creeping in. Winning just once has become a hurdle. If they beat LA on wednesday--I think there's a pretty decent chance they'll win in LA on friday.

No doubt about that. But are they the best?

Who knows? Why does it matter? Are the Kings? Arguable. Tuuka is better than Quick and maybe Boston could beat them. The Rangers are the 2nd best team in the East. I know you wanna talk about the Devils series, but if the referee does his job this is a 2-1 series where we have one more game at home to make it 2-2 going back to LA.

The Kings are very good. So are the Rangers. The Rangers had one game stolen from them against a very good team: this is fact. 2-1 with another game at home is way different than 3-0.

I hope so, literally every player on this team is going to have to be on another level if they are going to come back from this one. Maybe not all at once, but when someone is having a bad night, there is going to have to be a lot of people picking up the slack.

Mission Improbable.

Almost all I can think about recently is Game 2. I'm usually not the kind of dude who lets sports really **** with my mood for longer than half an hour after a game, but i've been very morose ever since Game 2. The Rangers were ****ing jobbed and my heart is broken. If anybody looks at my posting history in a couple of years during the cup run and sees how much i've complained they'll call me a homer/whiner, etc, but that has to be my worst moment as a sports fan by far.

Yeah I'm usually over a loss pretty quick, even if it's a series ending loss, but the past few days have been rough.

Photoshop faces of Rangers heros on MI movie posters as next year's avatar's if they comeback.

I think Brassard and MZA are resigned. The other guys might be, but I dont think its a monumental task to replace them, outside of maybe Stralman.

Getting rid of Richards sure looks like it'll be a net positive on its own, and you gotta imagine some center will be imported.

I hear you. Absolutely jobbed.

I mean, Christ Almighty.....the most important thing in any sport is the ****ing SCORE! You need to get that right 100% of the time or else what the hell are we even doing here? What's the sense in any of it IF YOU CANT GET THE SCORE RIGHT?!?!

I just hate how despondent they sound today. Girardi mentions the goal is to not get swept. They keep talking about not winning 4, just one. It's like they've resigned themselves to losing but just want to not lose in 4.

This being a close series and convincing yourself "this series could easily be 3-0 Rangers" is quite a leap

The Rangers defense hasn't looked comfortable all series, mainly because LA can come at you in so many different ways. They can beat you on the rush, they can manhandle you in front of the net. Its a tough way to play.

McDonagh, in particular, was trying to do way too much last night

that's because McDonough is the only one doing anything worth ****... Girardi is crapping the bed every time the rubber hits the road, and Moore still has a bag of pucks for a brain....

Stralman has been the most sound defensively and Klein has been solid all playoffs...

Meanwhile Girardi handed a game away, Moore can't do anything worth anything, and Staal looks like he's utterly confused on the ice.

this... i'm having a hard time dealing with this loss only because if that call is made correctly (which it WAS IN THE BEGINNING OF THE GAME AGAINST THE RANGERS), then we are UP in this series, there is no doubt about it...

You saw how good we were in the 1st two games, where the Kings could not BUY a lead...

They aren't going to win 4 games on Wednesday night. It starts with 1, and thats all they should be talking about.

I thinking saying it "easily" could've been 3-0 Rangers as if the Rangers dominated is a lot different than saying it "easily" could've been 3-0 Rangers if we got a bounce or two. I don't think it could be 3-0 (The Kings completely dismantled our offense in the 2nd half of yesterday's game after scoring 3, and even if Hank stops the first goal I don't think we score 2 yesterday) but it ABSOLUTELY could be 2-1 Rangers, and in fact it SHOULD be 2-1 Kings right now.

On the bright side, Sather can probably just ask Dolan for the Cup final gate to complete a Richards buyout.

Thats an easier conversation than it was 3 weeks ago.
