I feel bad Lundqvist will not get the cup he deserves, but at the same time, he didn't step up his game enough to earn it. One more timely save in games 1 and 2, and the Rangers win both. 1 more save. That's how thin the line is between a "good goalie" and a Stanley cup champion goalie.

This was probably his only shot at getting the cup. Oh well, it wasn't in the cards. He won't be the only great player in NHL history to have never touched the cup. That much is for sure. When you play your entire career on the NY Rangers, it's difficult to get many shots at the cup I suppose. We are not the Devils, or Red Wings who make the finals 5 times in 20 years. We make it once, if we're lucky.

I pictured in my head what it would be like for Gary Bettman to call over Lundqvist to accept the cup. The first goalie in NHL history to do so. A silly little dream, I suppose. But man, how sweet it would have been.

I won't be able to watch Game 4...working. So I hope at this point the Rangers have enough left in the tank to pull out one more win at the Garden Wednesday. I'll be off Friday, and would like to see just one more hockey game this season before it ends. :(

I think that's a little unfair. Lots of goalies win the cup due to their team.

A bit dramatic, no? Our window isn't closing any time soon.

Think about all the things that had to go right just for us to make the finals. Now think about Lundqvist's age.

He is not a young man anymore. His prime years are drawing out to a close. Yes, we may make the finals again sometime in the next 10 years. We may not. But the odds Lundqvist will be there when we do are very, very slim.

I thought he'd have the series of his career coming into this finals. Instead he's given up 11 goals in 3 games. That simply is not good enough, and I expected better from him. I am heart broken, and truly saddened by his performance.

I just don't want to see Brad Richards on the ice, nevermind the power play.

It's to the point of nausea everytime I see that sack of **** drag this team down.

This is what I worry about. Things shook out pretty well for us to make it to the Final. Half a series with Emery, good comeback vs. Pitt, Price out in ECF. It wasn't easy at all, but it was better than it could've been.

What I worry about is the rest of the east is going to get better. Islanders, Capitals, Blue Jackets will all be better next year. Pittsburgh will still be good, Boston will still be elite, Montreal will be good if not better, Detroit will be good, Tampa will be better.

I don't know, it's such a tough road to the SCF that it seems almost crazy to think they can do it again. Let's hope so.

No matter what I'm really proud of the guys. It's been a journey.

With that said; please don't let the journey end just yet. We can beat these guys! In no way is 3-0 a reflection of the actual series.

This game they won fair and square, Quick outplayed Henrik and when that happens we are in for a bumpy night. We can and will beat them in game 4. LGR

NCRANGER
Kings just set the sport back to pre-lockout days.

Get lucky, hook, hold, interfere, trap. Just like a team called the New Jersey Devils.

And NBC LOVES IT, because New York loses.
Alot of us Canucks fans have been saying that since Boston 2011

I'm shocked, that was excellent. Gonna listen to his other recaps now.

omg Mike Richards and the hot dog.

I like it. R-rated hockey analysis lirl. I love how you can hear him smoking a cigarette while he's talking haha

Wish it was earlier in the season, I will def keep listening to these.

Geesh, Kings haven't set anything back. Boston is almost nearly identical team to the Kings in terms of style and players.

They lost to Chicago last year from the Hawks having speed/skill.

The Rangers had too many holes. Nothing more.

There is no mass conspiracy. There is no curse or whatever nonsense people want to throw around.

This team was a team filled band aids and patchwork players since the beginning of the season. They overachieved.

Yeh, I agree. As a Mets fan, this team reminds me a lot of the 2000 Mets. A team of role players, no real stars, who had a great coach and made it to the big show only to lose to a team that had been there before recently and knew how to win. In 2000, we lost to the Yankees (ugh). In 2014, the Rangers lost to the Kings. All the games were close in 2000 (like this series) but in the end, it was still a short series.

Rangers will have tough choices to make. They can't fall in love with the fact they made it to the finals. They don't have enough finishers.

Cap space is going to be super tight. They'd do well just to hang on to Stralman, Boyle, and Dominic Moore while locking up Zuccarello long term. Plus Brassard, Kreider, and John Moore are RFAs. I know Pouliot's a good possession player, but he's not high on my list. And obviously Richards will be amnestied and replaced by Miller or Lindberg.

Lundqvist and McDonagh aren't real stars? Ok then.

I have a feeling Staal is going to be "Callahan'd" at the trade deadline next year. Moore n Boyle can be resigned w/ modest raises, hopefully.

Hopefully they retain J Moore. I've seen people criticize J Moore's play, but i think him and Klein have been great in their roles. I mean, do people remember Del Zaster and Bickel being 5 n 6 d men?

I would say the Rangers have to take a hard look at: Stepan, Nash, Richards, and Staal. They need to figure out what they want to do with those guys. There also needs to be a decision on where in our pairings Dan G fits in. I don't think he can handle top pairing units.

Take Stepan out, because he's a big time long term piece.

Step is a borderline second line center atm. The only way he can become a 2nd line center is if he commits to his off season conditioning.

Thats something management is going to have to make a decision on. If Derek cannot make that next step; the Rangers are better off getting rid of him.

If you think Stepan isn't at least a high end second line center, I don't know what to tell you.

If Stepan were our second line center, we'd probably be up 2-1 or 3-0, because it would mean we have an elite center.

Lundqvist is a good goalie, but not on a level of Quick. Or if you want to use a former Ranger as a reference, he is no Mike Richter. He is what he is. A goalie who can come up huge at times, and then at other times break down emotionally and play poorly. He is not consistent enough to be considered a star, imo.
