The good news is the refs shouldn't feel compelled to "even up" the penalty side of things since NY had a virtual 5 on 3 there.

Doughty had no intention of ever playing the puck, just the man. I can see why they called it. I probably would have called neither or both since Clutterbuck was doing the same thing. I'm more concerned about the stick play and the drill in the numbers. But period is over, just have to regroup now

Clutterbuck was looking hit on Doughty all the way, he made no attempt to play the puck.

So Tavares takes Doughty's stick and throws it, and there's no call? Was Lewis's stick broke, cause if it wasn't that's another missed called for the Isles pushing it away.

I thought the same thing. How does Tavarse just skate away with Doughtys stick like that and nobody sees it.

I know we are harping at the refs, I am not asking this to point it out but more for the knowledge of the game.

The play when the Islanders player launched Lewis broken stick, being that it hit someone or was in the direction of the puck, should that have been a penalty? My memory is a little hazy but I remember a Kings player getting a penalty for a similar play a few years back, I think it was O'Donnell.

You know I was thinking the exact same thing.

Refs decision is the final word. Right or wrong, it sticks and no sense beefing about it. Sometimes Kings gain by them, sometimes they lose by them. Things usually even out eventually

You can't shoot a broken stick at an opposing player. I don't think there's a rule against sweeping a broken stick away and hitting your own dude.

I didn't like those missed calls late, but I will say that clutterbuck-martin line is real solid for them. that's an element a lot of the east teams seem to be missing.

that said I hate them, and I'm glad we don't see those guys 6 times a year. need to close this out in the 3rd, take some of that momentum back.

The mainboard is convinced that the refs favor the Kings and there is ofcourse the usual suspects here who think the refs hate the Kings.

It probably means the officiating against the Kings is the same as against the other 29 teams, they occasionally miss some both ways but it all evens out.

Montreal doesn't want to see us in the SCF, starting Tokarski against WPG. down 1-0 to em as well. get ready to see that from a lot of teams down the stretch.

Agreed that 4th line is nails, love it.

I wasn't harping about the calls btw, just worried about williams, and more having fun with the idea that the NHL is here to help us out when there were some very clear technical fouls that period to go along with the bad judgment calls. Funny how no one seems to be jumping to Williams defense since "it's all about player safety" on the main board.

0-0 game, essentially. Hang in there guys, tough period, 9th period of hockey in 4 days, it's gonna be brutal

Agreed, fun fact, we're 21st in times shorthanded. There are 20 teams that take more penalties than us, but you may never know it.

I don't see anything wrong with whining about the ref's in our own forum. Some people need to vent. I get the whole "sometimes it goes our way, sometimes it doesnt". But some of us have the opinion that there is accountability that needs to happen with refs. There is zero accountability for refs.

I generally enjoy our GDT's but the constant complaining about the refs is stupid, we have had people arguing about penalties for high sticks and nut shots in recent weeks.

I can't remember who we were playing but I think it was Doughty who hit someone in the nuts and there were multiple posts calling it a dive, I mean, really?

Nothing wrong at all with commenting on the game as it's happening real time. 20 posters going 'wtf' about a noncall is just 20 people noticing something in the course of play. I don't see that as whining unless that's all that's being commented on when a great game is going on around us. IMO, it's only worrying if we're still sniveling about it too much in the PGT.

Calls do get evened out. Doesn't mean people won't get pissed at mistakes though. If people get pissed at their team getting scored on they're going to get pissed at refs ****ing up.

I haven't seen anyone here claim the refs "hate" the Kings. They missed two calls. Three depending on your perspective on the Doughty/Clutterbuck hit. It happens.
