Los Angeles Kings and GM Rob Blake part ways

If Bergevin gets the call… does he change the HC and if so, who does he bring in?

Do you remember, Kings fans, how you got Danault in the first place??
We sure do, in Montréal.

It's because when it was time to renegociate Danault's contract, Bargain Bin tried to hardball him for 500 000$

After what he did that year in the playoffs (it was after Montréal's run in 2021), Danault felt disrespected by this and signed with you. Bargain Bin didn't care, because he had Kotkaniemi, just waiting there and ready to step up as our 2nd line center anyway...
Than Carolina f***ed with him, and the rest is History

Like I previously said, Bergevin has value, as a talent scout. He's solid when it's time to find good value depth players. But this is it. Anything else, he's mediocre at best, if not outright turd-rible

If I were L.A., I'd inquire about what Darche is doing this days

There’s another bargain bin out there that’s probably available—bargain bin Bob Murray.

I think he’s just doing scout work with the Flames right now but he was a pretty good GM in Anaheim, just have to hope he’s sobered up and kept away from barstools.

Weiss and Fleischmann for Danault and 2nd (Romanov). Probably one of the best trade or the past 10+ years. And not re-signing Danault was probably one of the reason Montreal when into rebuild mode instead of being a bubble/bottom team for the next 10 years.

Bergevin was good at trading, but he didn't have a plan and lack hockey IQ. I sure hope he learned from his past mistakes and surround himself with hockey minds.

That trade is arguably his magnum opus, but at the end, he f***ed up with the new contract negociations, while also f***ing up every year on the draft (aside of Sergatchev)
And I'm sorry, but I ain't going to give a W to someone who unintentionnally failed. Bergevin was going for it in 2022, but the team crashed and burned, unlike someone like Grier, who actually went full rebuild, and it was the actual plan

Bergevin, like I said, was good at talent scouting. But can't draft, and he can't negociate shit. He is usefull as an assistant, but he can't have the job of GM

The Ducks have won a playoff series more recently than the Kings despite being out of the playoffs for 7 years my guy.

Also, laugh now cry later. We have an insane young core built (most year 2000 or earlier birthdays in the league) while ya'll have mortgaged your core for mediocrity! Have fun!

Confidence boost! Such a cute lil duckling! 😍💕

Faber + for Fiala lol. Should’ve been fired then and there

Faber had close to zero value. Minnesota kid who was 12 months away from using the 4 year NCAA rule to sign as a UFA with the Wild. Either they got a great asset like Fiala then or they get nothing the following year. Not any different than the Canes having no choice but to trade Adam Fox to the Rangers.

Not true at all, it has been debunked numerous times.

Faber did not sign in LA because the Kings would not give him NHL guarantees, and instead wanted him to do what they do with every single one of their prospects, slow-cook in the AHL for a season.

Faber chose to return to school, contend for a NC and be better developed, which he was. He then immediately jumped into the NHL after his junior season.

The only Kings prospects in the last eight years to exceed the draft capital used to draft them have been players who spent multiple seasons in the NCAA (away from their touch) and Jordan Spence, who was under-valued by the entire league because of his size. Everybody else has failed to live up to it.

It was a no-brainer to develop at the University of Minnesota over the Ontario Reign.

It's very different from the Adam Fox situation because it's untrue. Faber has debunked it. And the Kings denied that he ever asked for a trade or that he would never sign in LA.

It's closer to Carolina trading away Jack Johnson because he didn't want to sign and leave college too soon.

HOF level players do not necessarily make for high calibre front office staff.

In fact it seems role players/journeymen tend to be more effective at their second hockey profession?
