Blake needed to go, but so do others. If Bergevin is the replacement then the Kings have downgraded. Bergevin is awful. It was a grand day when Montreal parted ways with him.

He had final say, so I'm not going to let him off of the hook... but, if he felt pressured to make moves by the people around him, then that could explain the rumors (that preceded these playoffs) of him wanting to step aside at the end of the season.

There were rumors swirling all year that Blake was going to retire after his contract was up regardless of what happened. I think that’s what happened here, the “mutual” part of the announcement seems like something Luc tacked on to make it seem like he’s doing something.

I’m happy Blake is gone but we won’t see any of the changes we want until Luc is gone too.
