Kings were solid tonight.

The only thing I didn't like was the second period. The Kings clearly took the foot off the gas in that second period.

Yeah pretty much. Boston might be struggling, but they're still good enough that you can't count on keeping them pinned for 60 minutes.

Kopitar played well, Carter did not.

Much better?

The only change was right wing, Toffoli and Jordan trading places.

Anyway, GDT updated. Still no word on whether Martinez will be playing tonight or not.

Yes much better....

Noal would drag King and Richards down more making that line pretty worthless as far as offensive potential goes...

At the same time putting Toffoli on a line with Clifford/Lewis is a waste of time. Either Clifford/Lewis are going to get too much ice time or Toffoli isn't going to get enough. That and Toffoli (one of the Kings leading scorers) should be placed with someone that can pass him the puck.

So just by swapping Nolan and Toffoli you go from 2 worthless lines to 1 ok line King/Richards/Toffoli and a 4th line checking line that doesn't have to play over 10 minutes.

Great game...

Couple blown coverages but that's why Kings have Quick... still got the shutout. Yeah Boston's been having trouble this year, but it's still nice to see the Kings not blow a game just because. Nice to see Martinez back... really helps with transition. Oh yeah and loved when Muzzin thought he was Doughty for a second skating the puck all over the place then got to center ice and remembered he wasn't Doughty...

Kopitar played well, Carter did not.

It seems that Carter is having some issues adjusting back to wing... the recent games he's played there he hasn't looked that great.

I think he looks especially awkward with Kopitar, and less so with Richards. Hopefully he's back to C as soon as the doctors find Gaborik's arm.

Did you watch the Kopitar interview? He basically said they sucked but will take the two points. Quick won that game pure and simple. Only the Stoll line looked good out there. Pearson was also excellent. The pp was atrocious and they were lucky they didn't have to kill any penalties. That was the game I watched.

I was at the game and I thought the Kings basically dominated for the first two periods until Boston got more desperate in the 3rd, then Quick did what Quick does. I was a little nervous because it was only a one goal lead for so long.

Hard to find fault when you get a shutout and don't commit a single penalty  The power play was bad, especially the 5 on 3.

lol - I thought they were pretty dominant in the 2nd.

I don't think the experiment with Carter on the wing will last much longer. The Kings are at their best when it's:

Kopitar
Carter
Richards
Stoll

down the middle. Rolling those 4 centers makes it very difficult for the other team, especially in the Kings' zone.

It just seems to me that along with the injuries, the lines are being juggled in an attempt to get more production out of Kopitar.

Quick got a piece of it, cause Krug shot it into him.

Krug literally had the whole left side of the net open. It was sort of bad luck/fluke.

Good for the Kings though.

It was quite a fluke. If you look carefully the shot wasn't even on net, it was going wide right. If it doesn't hit Quick there is no bounce off the post.

Yeah that's exactly what's going on. And thankfully while Carter and Kopitar aren't great together, they both seem to interact well with Tanner Pearson.
