All that said, I know some people are going to be irritated because the contract isn't perfect. That isn't how it works. GMs can offload players when they go downhill. Bickell, Clarkson, Horton, Pronger etc

You can move bums with bloated contracts. You deal with it when you need to.
Guys this is how a competent GM operates. Take calculated risks and fix them when required.

Really tough to call 5 years down the road where the player will be. Players sign long term and play like 3-5 years before traded.
