London Knights 2024 - 25 Season Thread, Part VII

It has been a pleasure watching this core develop into a dominating force. Over the last two years it was rare to see them even lose a game.

An unforgettable group that have all deservedly claimed their spot in London Knights lore!

And to cap it off with that kind of performance in the Memorial cup final… Talk about an exclamation mark ! Also made for a nice stress free viewing experience for us diehards.

Congrats to all the players and everyone behind the scenes who worked for this !!

The fans I was watching with appreciated the Knights not making us go through being a tangle of jangled nerves. We really appreciate being fans of this organization and try not to take it for granted.

One of the best teams. With the new NCAA rules this is the change of era in the OHL/CHL. Like someone on this board alluded to. This is a very special team as was the competition. I think we will all remember this memorial cup for a long time

Well done!

That was such a great game!

Thanks Dale and Mark for drafting and developing these players!

Thanks to the players who came back and had one goal of winning the Memorial Cup.

Thanks to Dave Rook for coming back from the NHL to goalie coach all of our Memorial Cup teams and help Austin Elliott to be an amazing goalie.

Elliott still is a bit of an unsung hero and doesn’t get the accolades he deserves. Amazing goaltending. Arguably better than Simpson last year, who was also great.

Montgomery - great add at no cost
Fimis - good add at no cost for 6D and will be important next year
Elliott - Exceptional add at minimal cost
Allen - good add to play middling minutes at expensive cost

So London made one big trade this year and won it all. Excellent.

The Cam Allen trade was necessary at the time.

He’s kinda our Isaiah George of last year. Little less defensively gifted, but more offensively gifted. But both exceptionally gifted in skating.

But what that trade did was give take Henry Brzustewicz out of the Top 4 for a bit, and say if you want Top 4 mins a make less mistakes and play Dale’s hockey. Credit to Brz, he upped his game and earned those Top 4 mins. Also Cam Allen was insurance in case a big D went down.

Only Dickinson and Allen were the only defenseman that could join the rush and then have enough speed and endurance in skating to be able to get back fast enough to breakup the rush the other way. That is huge. You always need mobile D in today’s game.

I look forward to watching these Knights grads play in the Show. Barkey and Bonk for the Flyers...Halts and Sam for San Jose and all the other grads.

Should put in a bid just to piss people off. Kitchener is probably getting it a fifth time. Funny how everyone hated London hosting twice but no one batted an eye to Rimouski, Halifax, QC, Kelowna getting it twice in short order.
You're talking crap that you know nothing about.

Kitchener hosted in 1975 when there were 3 teams and no host team. Thankfully that was changed in 1983 as the tournament was having a difficult time when the host city had no skin in the game.

Next time Kitchener hosted was 1984. How they got to host you ask? They finished first in the regular season.

Next time they "hosted" was 1990. The tournament was held in Hamilton. Hamilton had such a terrible team that it was declared the two OHL finalists would be the entrants for the Memorial Cup. The runner-up would be the host team.

Kitchener did win the bid in 2008.

So technically while this would be Kitchener's 5th time hosting, they weren't all given to them for bids. And I do agree other host cities should get consideration, which is why London hosting twice in a 9 year period is considered by many to be unjust.

Congratulations Knights fans on a great victory yesterday and a fantastic season. All well deserved.

Missed the point entirely....

I look forward to watching a young hungry team next year. But first, I'm looking forward to celebrating this team tonight!

Not that I think it would happen, but hosting again probably shouldn't happen again until at least 2030. Dale and Mark can go for Memorial Cup #5 before retiring! :)

I didn’t say anything derogatory about Kitchener. Just stating it would be their fifth.

The others, including Regina, who I forgot to mention, all received a second host in a short period of time, similar to London (who were the only team coming off back to back league championships).

I didn't miss the point at all. Fergie was stating Kitchener will probably host for a 5th time. There was no complaint, just stating what he felt was going to happen. Then you went off on some ridiculous rant about the 4 other times that Kitchener hosted.. like anyone cares...

The complaint in Fergies post was about the other sites that hosted in a shorter time span than Londons two hosting gigs.
