London Knights 2024 - 25 Season Thread, Part VII

Given what we just accomplished, may I suggest at least a 48 hour moratorium on critiquing members of our championship team?

Knights Watcher

Dale needs to staple 73s ass to the bench. Hasn't contributed a thing this whole tournament except for skating around like a figure skater.
And trade him to Niagara in the offseason.

This post was before the Knights won the Mem Cup.

I can’t believe this team won. They were right there with 05 and 16 but it’s still so hard to win this championship. You need a lot of good fortune. Medicine Hat only lost once (similar to London last year) so that’s rough. They could have been up early last night but lady luck, as Gardiner would say, was on London’s side. Congratulations to all teams for putting on a great tournament.

I didn't miss the point at all. Fergie was stating Kitchener will probably host for a 5th time. There was no complaint, just stating what he felt was going to happen. Then you went off on some ridiculous rant about the 4 other times that Kitchener hosted.. like anyone cares...

The complaint in Fergies post was about the other sites that hosted in a shorter time span than Londons two hosting gigs.
Appreciate the eloquence. I’m not great over text. So I can see how I can be misunderstood. Thank you; go Cubs.

When will they release new season tickets?
You've got to give the printers time to get them printed, and collated into booklets. There will be ample time over the summer, and I'm certain that the Box Office will keep all present & prospective season ticket holders advised. They sure as hell don't miss a beat when campaigning for renewals.:D

Rogers covered tonight's "parade". It was great to hear from the players, Dale, and Mark...And it gave fans a chance to celebrate with the team, and say goodbye to several players. Best, lengthy, heart felt speech I've ever heard from Dale commenting on the players' will, desire, devotion to winning from day 1, redemption.
This is a very tight knit group of players, best friends off the ice.

Was at the celebration tonight. It was great to see the core of this team get a sendoff as champions. They earned it! After last year's disappointment at the end, they took that as motivation and couldn't have put together a better season. Enjoy it, boys!

Looking forward to what the Hunters and crew have in store to keep this train rolling. Lucky to have this team in London!

Medicine Hat have officially changed their motto for this season...

Hadn't thought about it until it was mentioned tonight at the celebration, Elliott was actually 55-3 this season as he was 3-0 with Saskatoon before coming to London.
So glad Stubbs mentioned the first 10 minutes of the final as it could have easily been 2-0 or 3-0 without the excellent play of Elliott...he was huge when we needed him to be in this tournament.

Agreed. London does not win the Memorial Cup without Elliott. You can say that about a lot of individual players, but I think a number of teams in the past have won in spite of their goaltending. London’s last two Memorial Cups had top notch goaltending.

I must look at things differently than a lot of other fans. I thought Nichol was strong on forecheck and backcheck. He set up Halts a couple times and didn’t turn over the puck. Did exactly what Dale asked him to do. Just like everyone on here yapping about Nurmi. He was out there checking McKenna’s line . They never scored a 5 on 5 goal against the against theKnights. Nichol was matched up against 2nd line and they never scored 5 on 5 in either game. It’s called buying in and playing

Anyone want to take a crack at what next years line’s will look like? A few considerations…..Boulton will be back and will get 3rd line minutes on a young team (maybe 4th). Dickenson will need to crack the NHL and if he doesn’t what a boost that would be. Cam Allen could be back for an OA year given perhaps more time to “mature”.
Our goaltending will be excellent with Medvedev likely playing 75% of the games.
2 new imports to join the lineup too.
Also I saw somebody say Fimis would be back, thought he was one and done off to school?
Ok I’m not good at this but I’ll get it started…

Forwards:
Import O’Rielly Hawery
Bidgood Nichol Read
VanBommel Gerber Import
Boulton Hickson Campeau

Defence:
Dickinson Wooley
Bruzteiwecz, Allen
Mitchell, Fagan

Goalies:
Alexei Medvedev
Finn Wilson

Extra: Ronan, Janicek, Mews, Cook, Cover, Spencer, McAslan

You’re missing Van Gorp.

I’d be surprised if Mews is anywhere close to being an extra.

Personal preference but I’d bring Aboflan back as an OA.

Unlikely but it wouldn’t surprise me if O’Reilly got a long or permanent look with Edmonton.

Dickinson is the best defenceman in London since John Carlson. If lesser skilled D like Maatta and Zadorov made the NHL at 19, I’d be surprised if Dickinson didn’t play on San Jose the entire season.

Allen is signed by Washington. I don’t see him learning anything new on ice in the OHL that he can’t learn in the AHL. I don’t comment on his legal issues.

Fimis is committed to NCAA starting in 26/27. He’ll be back for 25/26.

Probably need a goalie to backup Alexei.

Not sure even London has the wherewithal to recruit and sign three imports but something to keep in mind.

Hopefully London (and other teams) see some BCHL or USHL signings. I don’t know that the CHL is competing with the NCAA currently (or anymore) but they should be competing and winning the battle with the BCHL and USHL. I look at it as a food chain.

Almost a 0 percent chance Dickinson or Allen are back.

My prediction of what may happen for the Memorial Cup week. (IMHO)

-Rimouski Oceanic are peaking at this moment, but will also be a very tired club comes Memorial Cup Tourney.

-Moncton (Wildcats) have been dominant in the Q's all year, they have slowed down a bit in the finals. They seem to be coasting right now, but don't let them fool you, they will be ready and should pick up their pace next week.

-Medicine Hat Tigers is a well balance team, much stronger than Moose Jaw was last season and is the team that will give London the hardest time

-London is the team to beat, rolling on all cylinders and well rested for the Tourney, they have to make sure that they are not overconfident, but should come out as winner of the Memorial Cup

My guess is London will win all three of the round-robin games, and go straight to the final.
I am guessing that Rimouski, Moncton, and Medicine Hat will all likely win one game each.
Whichever team not playing in the tiebreaker has a better chance of winning the one-game playoff and going to the cup final to play London. Wishing all of you a super Memorial Cup week.
Above was the prediction I made of this year's big “M” Tourney

Aside from London losing one game, and Medicine Hat winning all their round-robin games, I'd say I came close, as I did last year's prediction. Quebec was the weaker league again this year.

One thing I like about the Memorial Tournament is that it lets us learn, through the media and interviews, about both our team's and of their opponents' players. More or less like being in the dressing room, it brings us one step closer to understanding their thoughts and opinions as a group. In addition to abilities and skills, it is much simpler to predict which team will gel better together as a team and executing their final goal.

- I don't know what the score is going to be, but it will not be as close as anyone thinks. London will win their third cup today, the players are too concentrated to let this one slip-by!

Posted Sunday at 3:13pm
- Without refs interference, I'd say Knights by three or four goals
