London Knights 2024 - 25 Season Thread, Part VII

Like I pointed out it wasn’t triple the powerplays. Penalties were 11-7 London but the 9-3 pp stat is misleading be because Cowans penalty shot was not included and Ritchie’s pentaly on Sim in the 1st they are up 2 minute of the double minor.
But the 4:00 penalties are actually two 2:00 minute penalties.

Not worth arguing this logic. You’d fit in well with congress.

Lastly on Cowans penalty shot I have been saying I think teams should get a 2 minute power play over a pentaly shot because it today’s game with shoot out goalies have advantage on a pentaly shot and I think you have better odds to score on a power play. Also it is the only time that a player causes a pentaly but does not have to serve time in the box. In this situation instead of calling the pentaly shot Danford gets 2 min for tripping and London is on the PP. Or another idea I had to not eliminate penalty shots out of the game all together is to let the team have the pentaly shot if they score no pentaly and if they don’t score the player gets a 2 minute minor. Almost treating the penalty shot as a delayed penalty

But the 4:00 penalties are actually two 2:00 minute penalties.
So instead of looking at number of powerplays awarded looking at the number of penalties called on each team. Yes London got more penalties still but only a +4 difference instead of a +6 with fans claiming it was 9-3.

So you are OK with unfair officiating because you are jealous of a rivals success. Nothing has been handed to the Knights. They have earned their success. Crawl back to your own board and and and make excuses for another rebuilding year. We don’t need your comments here. Games for all teams (including the Rangers) should not be decided by terrible and one sided officiating. Let the players decide the game and call penalties that are deserved.
I never said I was okay with unfair officiating. All I'm saying is that based on how many penalties teams take it makes sense that one team gets penalized more.

But the power plays were 9-3. The other penalties were even up calls. Look at the facts.

Agreed. But not how last nights game was called. One team got all the breaks and were +6 in pp’s in a pretty low intensity game. But we move on. Knights top players have to be better.

With all that being said, if that’s the best the East has to offer (with triple the powerplays), London shouldn’t have a problem the rest of the series. One of London’s weaker games all year and they still had the 5-on-5 edge when Mac Nichol and friend weren’t going to bat for Tullio.
Easily one of Oshawa’s weaker games as well, very poor execution overall and very uncharacteristic. They gifted London way too many odd man rushes and breakaways tonight, but that luckily didn’t burn them. But they’ll be better, London will too I imagine. Poor officiating as usual, but some of those were blatant penalties. I don’t understand and never will booing a high stick that draws blood lol that shit hurts and is an objective penalty everyday.

We get it Oshawa is better. You guys happy? The series is 1-0. London is on a bad path currently.

So you're saying his reputation is the reason for the penalty.

So, not really a penalty.

I agree with you, I'd love to see games called consistently from start to finish, but the reality is, they are not. Makes no sense why they decided to go rouge now. And if they are calling it consistently from start to finish, the player who dove when Montgomery tripped him would have been in the box, and the player who criss checked Cowan into Oster would also have received a penalty
I would take another look at that Montgomery trip. The stick is swung along the ice and clearly takes out both feet. No dive, textbook trip. That call has to be made. Had the benefit of multiple replays on TV

I have stayed out of the Knights board because it's not my team here as you guys beat up inna clean 4 games. However if you all want to complain about refs go ahead, it's your right. All I have to say is that for a team that was the 3rd most penalized in the regular season you guys sure seemed shocked when you actually get called for a large amount of penalties compared to another team who was not penalized as much in the regular season.

Over the course of the regular season you had roughly 130 more penalty minutes then the Gens, so don't act surprised when you still get penalized more than them (9 penalties may be a lot but even if it was 6 it still would be justified).
We appreciate your acknowledgment of our dissatisfaction with the referring team of this league. Despite the fact that the intention was meant the other way, this post is actually reinforcing our complaint.

Oshawa is beatable. Knights had more breakaways in 1 game than all playoffs. They just need to find a way to beat Oster. He’s motivated this year after being embarrassed last year.

You know how you don’t get multiple high sticking penalties? Stop waving your stick around like those stupid light sabers the fan club has.

I would like to see a rule change that if the ref has to turn into a doctor to inspect a players mouth for blood, it’s not 4min. Unless the player has easily visible blood, it’s 2min. How many players bite the inside of their mouth to help sell the call?

Knights fans can be embarrassing at times. They were chanting “ref you suck” after legit penalties like Van Bommels boarding and Montgomerys tripping call. Be better than Rags fans.

This is not a story of the finest hockey team assembled this year, ranked first in the country. It has been transformed into the "big bad wolf" team, and it is becoming imperative to slow them down in order to maintain parity. While this is not the case in all games, it was quite apparent in the one that took place last night; they did not attempt to conceal it.

As a neutral this was the one thing that stuck out to me - when Sim got clipped by D'Amato he went over to the ref with what looked to be blood on his finger (from his nose - so no chance of the self-bite) and the ref wouldn't even look at him - yet when Sennecke got clipped the ref looked like a dentist trying get an angle to find the blood.

I get Sim has a bad reputation and probably deservedly so - but when it's black and white stuff like that the victim's rep shouldn't impact the call.

Partially his reputation and I think he was selling it a little bit if I'm being 100% honest. That's the name of the game though, sometimes you can sell it well and it works and other times it doesn't. Luck of the draw.
I guess the laws of physics don't apply in Kitchener

As a Oshawa fan I get you guys think u got screwed by the refs but you had 6 breakaways and a penalty shot with your best forward just finish chances and don’t be put in a position where the refs decide the game for you but still a long series crazy the reactions in here after losing the first home game since February 23rd 😅

It’s not so much the penalties that were called. It’s the fact that only one team gets called. It happened off the hop on Oshawa’s first powerplay. Clear take down of O’Reilly was ignored. Of course, we can’t talk about that here. If Montgomery does it, hand in the air (green shirt).

If these were the league's best last night, then the league has a big problem on their hands. They made it so obvious, and the whole nation viewed this total embarrassment.

And here is another thing to consider, the clamping down on teams from criticizing refs, like some fascist country punishing its citizens and opposition leaders for criticizing on how they are ruling. They are times when public pressure do helps what it's being said behind closed doors.

The team didn’t play well and didn’t deserve to win so that’s that.

High entertainment value to the game last night.
Same for the comments here.
The Knights learned some things last night. I'm sure they'll adjust.
A little adversity is a good thing and if they move on will be valuable experience because every team at the Memorial Cup will be a good team. They will punish those with a lack of discipline.

So you seriously believe that Sim embellished when he was crosschecked in the face?

The trip by Montgomery is typically one you don't see called that late in the finals, and if you do, you call the embellishment to go with it
I was thinking the same thing. How is a crosscheck to the head embellished. I actually thought there was a chance for a 5 minute call on that one. Monteys trip in a normal game is a penalty but in this game, it would automatically be a trip plus embellishment to even up the call they didn't want to call. Just like Cowan getting a goalie interference penalty just because he was pushed into the goalie after stopping in front of goalie.
